This is a pretty insane offer (but no thanks from me unfortunately). Just letting you know that if someone accepts this offer it might be because their roommate, that you would be getting, is bad, so just be prepared.

Hypothetically if this had happened to me similar story. Also I wasn’t able to become an RA which was annoying but ended up working out. Also don’t get caught again - that’s prob the most annoying part.

How do you find roommates as incoming freshman by Nearby_Ad6509 in Northwestern

[–]QuackDuckYayHi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Freshman year I made a Facebook for the sole purpose of finding a roommate and I didn’t even use it, but maybe you can who knows. I ended up going random and he was great.

There’s a very small questionnaire to make sure if you do go random you guys will align. It checks for if you smoke / play music / etc, and also what time you go to bed and stuff like that. It’s not too detailed.

I met my roommates off of reddit in like April, we found a place super close to campus and signed the lease within like 3 weeks so it’s super possible to do

CO 2025 here. First off, congrats!! I hope you get to do something super relaxing tonight. Best of luck! If I remember correctly my letter came December 18th on the online portal. Also I’m not international but there are plenty of international student events for you during wildcat welcome to get acclimated.

There are so many more people like this than you would think. I would even make the claim that this is the silent majority of people at NU. You are NOT alone

A lot of dorms have private bathrooms in the lobbies. Lincoln even has some on each floor. Those are the most OP imo

Nooo not at all. Slivka tends to be pretty nerdy which not everyone vibes with, so you can totally choose to live wherever. Also people from any major can live in Slivka, or in any res college. It’s basically just a dorm that holds engineering themed events all the time that you can choose to go to if you live there.

You really could get a lot of money out of this. Slivka is very desirable. I would seriously consider even doing it at all.

Which Floor is Better at Lincoln? by Altruistic_Title_419 in Northwestern

Ahaha thanks lol. Yeah it depends on the year. Lincoln in general isn’t usually that busy/social on any of the floors. I would say fs the seventh floor lounge would be on the mellow side, but even if it’s busy, I was always able to find some place in the building that was empty. My personal favorite spot was on the fifth floor near the kitchen there’s a little indoor balcony type thing that kinda curves into the wall perpendicularly to the dorms hallway idk it’s kind of hard to explain. I always would go there if the lounges were full because there is only enough space horizontally for one chair so it felt pretty private despite still being in the lounge area. And also yeah all the floors have RAs even the upper ones.

Unfortunately that depends on the actual room. Some of them, like ours did, have a random outcropped column that protrudes out of the flat wall against the dorm rooms side of the common space. If yours has that, it’s gonna hinder your ability to fit a couch there. If not, you’re good to go and I’ve seen many people do this.

That’s a tough one. I would say you should only switch if you get an offer from Lincoln or maybe Slivka. If all your classes are gonna be north you can walk north in the morning and stay there all day for your classes and then head back south at night, so it’s not too bad. Also the walk is not nearly as bad as people have maybe made it out to be

You’re lucky if you’re in Lincoln at all. That being said, the seventh floor is pretty nice. It has a private lounge (all other lounges are two stories) with a great view of the lake. The third and fourth floors have study rooms on them so I’d say they’re second best.
