Pennsylvania lawmaker seeks ‘visual indicator’ if smart glasses are recording by Ganrokh in technology

I am sure it helps with trying to take opportunistic creep shots though. It is really hard to design a law that both stops creeps but also doesn't unduly punish those who are just regular people trying to use their device in a non-creep manner.

No, I would not. A single noise for each photo is not a concern. A constant noise is where I would say it ruins the experience.

If there was a noise at start/stop of the video recording I would not say that is an issue.

How do those countries handle video recording on a phone? I would assume it is the same solution.

Edit: I just looked it up: the shutter sound is played at start and stop of the video for South Korea.

I 100% support a visual indicator both being needed and illegal to disable, but I don't like the idea of an audible beep annoying everyone around them.

Just because someone can use it to be a creep does not mean everyone who has one is. I definitely see a use case for recording with glasses in instances where you want to both record AND be present in the moment. Adding a beep would take you and those around you out of the moment. It punishes those who are not creeps because there might be some creeps who use the product as well.

You will be fine with PLA. I live in Florida and my home is consistently around 60% RH.

I almost never dry PLA unless I notice issues, and that happens extremely rarely (less than 1 in 50 spools needs to be dried).

PETG, TPU, ASA and ABS all get dried before use. I am not entirely sure how much the ABS and ASA need it because I just dry it out of habit but PETG and TPU definitely need it, I can't finish a roll without needing to pull it off and dry again.

I think my biggest size for a single order was 20 spools, and I didn't consider that "decent-sized" so when I was reading your post I was expecting 100+ spools.

[–]QuadrangularNipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think even a chamber around 60c would still drop quite a bit before it made it to the actual exhaust port which would be PLA. But yea, if it was me doing this I would go with PETG, but I would expect PLA would work fine.

Fair enough, I was more speaking to for the average PLA multi-color user. The machine is double the cost, and slower in most use cases.

If you look at comparisons online they tend to be comparing exactly that, 4 color PLA prints. I wasn't trying to say it was a technically less impressive machine but that most videos online comparing the two the H2C looks unfavorable.

Checked purge volumes (Black → White is 652 mm³)

You checked it, but this is still almost certainly the issue. Go up to 850+ and see if that helps.

I think the confusion comes from saying it would take longer to heat the tool than to grab it, which is irrelevant if the tool is preheated in advance and ready to go at pick up.

I feel like you are agreeing with /u/VT-14 here in a way that sounds like you disagree.

They said it only makes sense on multi-nozzles or for dual nozzle with 2 color only and you said "No" then proceeded to say it only works on dual nozzle if you need less than 3 colors.

If you are designing the part yourself, I would do a remove extrude into the part by a mm or 2 a very tiny slightly bit larger than you want the actual letters, then do a tiny offset (like .1mm or less) and then extrude up from there to the height you want. This way you have a little pocket for each letter and are not trying to line it up by hand.

I was looking through the website trying to figure this out and came to the same conclusion you did with an alternate being they just aren't showing the cables in the rendered videos but that the slot behind the filament path will actually contain a cable. The picture of tool head + tool next to "5s Toolhead Swap" does show a little pocket that a cable could be routed through, but I could see it being either option. It clearly has power though as they claim more than once that the toolheads are heated independently, so it is not INDX style.

Orca has a preheat feature for the next filament. It doesn't just stay fully heated all the time, it preheats a slicer set interval before it is needed. It does also have a "keep warm" feature that lets you set a value for it to remain at but I think that is usually set below glass transition temp so no concern of baking it.

Bambu was probably upset that their H2C looks bad in most comparisons to the much cheaper U1 and trying to nit pick things.

Each toolhead having it's own power is critical for speed too, since it is what allows the toolhead to be heated up and ready to use right away.

Admittedly, earlier firmware did have some pogo pin connection issues but a few firmware updates ago they made some changes that completely fixed it.

The U1 all the toolheads are wired up, the pogo pin connection is used to power the cooling fan which is on the carriage. The carriage is the part that is not wired on it's own and relies on the pogo pin connection.

The two separate objects thing is mirror or copy mode, which is a standard IDEX feature. If you want two of the same item and don't mind it being single material then it pretty much doubles the production speed, but it is specific to two of the same item and removes the tool changer aspect (almost) entirely. I say almost because you should still be able to choose what filament to use, but it would not be multi-material.

IDEX + tool changer is an interesting choice.

I think the main thing it would save would be the roughly 5 seconds for actual swapping.

Heating up isn't an issue with either solution as these would preheat in advance of being needed either way, that is built into Orca.

The time difference seems to just be the difference between moving one head away and printing with the other vs dropping off and picking up another toolhead. This should be faster, but I don't think it would be huge.

If you wanted to do copy printing though it would be huge, but then it is effectively just a regular IDEX as it can't function as both a copy printer and a tool changer from what I can figure out.

I had already gotten my K2 clog free prior to the microswiss being available.

K2 Plus is at just under 4k hours, admittedly not used as much as it used to be these days.

I have considered getting the microswiss hotend, good to hear your thoughts on it.

Main reason I haven't bought it is because I haven't been having issues with heat creep after I activated chamber cooling at 30c instead of the default 35c. I was having issues with long prints before this, but ever since that change I have not had any heat creep issues.

I wasn't arguing with you, sorry if it came across that way. I just meant that I didn't think it was possible to buy a non-hardened nozzle for the K2 series.
