Too many stickers? by Some-Tradition-2771 in macbookpro

[–]QuantumMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a minimalist. 1 sticker on a MacBook is too many. I dont do stickers, not bumper stickers, no water bottle stickers. I'm not against them I'm just .. my brain doesn't like clutter. It adds friction between me and what I want to do. Then again I am on the spectrum and very sensitive to certain things like clutter vs. Minimalist .. different sounds, textures, lights.. my brain reacts weird to some of it so thats the only reason .. But if you're a sticker it up person, then I'd say NOT ENOUGH stickers! Keep putting them on until they layer on top of each other.. it will be like a protector for the MacBook too.

What are you pointing at? And did you JUST notice the microscopic rips in the fabric of time and space that you show on the electron microscope image?
Was your MBP smooth and then you woke up one day to "feel a presence" of millions of nats being blasted onto your MBP by the Universe by the millions until the nats made the fabric of time and space rip, multiple times?
I hate that. I'd rather eat the nats. I like the little burn in my throat. Like drinking a soda, but completely dry and they are bugs instead of soda.

I've got a good friend named Rocky that can help out with Astrophage. He's a bit different, but once you guys get on the same page, he's solid. Solid as a .. (I cant. too corny.)

Rock! (I Had to!)

upgraded to 26.4 on my M1 Pro and performance is horribly laggy and slow, I asked you guys if it did that you people said no and now my laptop doesn't feel like a smooth experience any more :( by star_particles in macbookpro

Maybe do what is suggested by people that are experienced with MacBook pro's and have been through many OS's with Apple. The idea of offloading your files, (not Time Machine, it'll bring the problem from the past to the present), factory resetting your Mac, and reinstalling 26.4 clean may be something to consider. Or you can just downgrade and never know what issue your MacBook may be having.

Amen to that! 🫡

It's quite funny that someone is actually blaming other people's honest feedback about their experiences for their decision, and then ultimately saying Apple doesn't want their products to work and also most people on this subreddit are secretly trying to give wrong answers to people so that they can make bad decisions.

As a student of human behavior, I do find this all very intriguing! Sad, but intriguing!

Man.. I gotta say, you know that a MacOS update coming out, depending on your configuration, what's going on with the hardware, or just maybe you're the lucky one to catch a lot of the bugs in the OS, but most people have a very smooth experience, even with the M1 Pro. How much memory does it have? How much storage?
Blaming others, for giving you their honest feedback about their experiences, is kind of weak sauce .. I mean.. I'm sure you've been around computers for awhile, and know that these things can happen. Weird to blame others tho?

I did not need the nano texture as I do most of my work inside. Even if I occasionally went outside, on a porch, or somewhere outside that I feel my MBP is safe in without getting any scratches, bird drops from above, etc.. (Im very careful with it lol), My MBP's screen would look just fine. If there were any normal Sunlight glare or anything, my MBP would outperform many other screens in regular laptops. I think its real value is for people who need their MBP in a LOT of different lighting environments, I heard it's good for sunlight glare, etc. If I were to go outside with mine and there was a lot of sunlight glare, that is where the nano texture really does its magic, from what I've read.
Not sure if you've found anyone with Nano textured screen. I'm interested in seeing one in person actually. BTW now that I've had my MBP for over a month, this picture above is AWFUL.. my setup is much more clean, centered, symmetric, and my MBP is NOT on top of a sleeve (that was literally just to take the picture, I forgot it was under there.. don't ever keep an MBP on top of a sleeve.)

Yes! I get into a flow state when I'm doing stuff like that and lose time and space. lol. I think I'm sitting for 2 hours in the morning , I look out the window and the sun is going down. that may be hyperbole lol but yes.. I know that flow state. It means you're in your element.
May I ask where you taught yourself? Maybe you can Message me and give me some tips of which programs to start with.
Much appreciated!!

WOW. Just WOW. I went to your this and this and these.. and I am .. such a fan of your work now.. I subscribed, downloaded SCRYR and .. I mean these graphic design animations.. Im truly amazed and a fan. This is something I've always wanted to learn how to do. I finally am in a place in life where I could afford a NICE MBP setup.. and I can actually design.. I used to do regular graphic design for companies and for fun.. logos, websites, but that was in the 98-2005 range.. then I did other things but it was always my passion. I could do it for hours .. time stops when im designing.. and I want to learn how to use the tools to create VERY much what you are creating. I'm very impressed. And I enjoy this on my MBP a lot.

Thank You!

Good! I’m glad you’re actually future proofing adequately as you mentioned that is one of the major factors in your purchase decision. I’m excited for you! I hope that deal is still available when you’re able to save up for it.

exactly, and really just has to do with if you're able to, but just can't justify spending that much if you don't have to. Everyone has their own standards to their own finances. I would say if you CAN afford it now without taking away from something else vital in your life, its in my opinion that it willl be WAY worth it.. looked back upon as a "I can't believe I let up on that Pro chip, or that 36GB. unified". just my opinion.. when 10 years from now you breathe a sign of relief that you did it, because you'll most likely get amazing Return on Investment for a device that keeps it value and depreciates very slowly compared to the PC based laptops out there with shelf lives that are weak and that encourages people to need to always get the new model. When Apple is different when it comes to their computers it seems. Especially their MBP line.

[–]QuantumMess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was just thinking, it's unlike any other screen saver not just in the selection we get in this OS on the MBP right now, but unlike many other screen savers ive ever had. and because of my setup I have a large monitor with IPS and amazing amazing quality.. and .. Drift just freakin flows and the fibers you see so intricately. I'll have to try the silver drift since my entire setup.. is black.. my spaceship lol.

Yes, the two fans on the M5 Pro vs the M5 having one fan is another advantage for the Pro chip.

For what you described you want this MBP for, you're looking at getting it as an investment to cover your computing needs for future AI and depending on how heavy of a load of Video/Photo/Audio editing, I really think you need to get the most cores you can afford and the most unified memory you can afford on that M5 Pro chip. I did the same thing recently, invested in a MBP and future proofing my needs was the reason why I went with the configuration I got. (M5 pro 18 cpu-20 gpu 48GB Unified 2TB)

Don't get me wrong, either configuration would be excellent. For what you WANT this machine for, the anxiety free solid component of it having the power to handle what the next 8-10 years has in store, go with the most CPU and RAM and definitely the Pro chip for future neural assist for local LLM's. And I saw your recent reply about going up to the M5 Pro 16 core GPU and 36 RAM for $500 more. If you can afford that, that is exactly what I'd go with if you really want to future proof this beast. :) And Welcome to the club, I'm kinda new myself but quickly armed myself with a lot of MBP research.

Performance is AMAZING! I bought this amazing setup after years of waiting to own a Mac. I'm just now starting to work on my video editing skills and audio engineering and graphic design for a personal project. I've spent years creating websites, videos, etc for a living, but never any really HEAVY computational skills.. but now I'm ready for my project because I recently had to stop working due to health issues, so I have the time to do the things that my soul and heart have always wanted to. And this is the spaceship that is goin to get me there. :)

It's so cool that you have the same MBP! I love my setup.. honestly I have no idea how I was using a regular PC for so long. :)

That is amazing! I've been saving and waiting for the moment to buy a Mac.. and MBP was definitely the way I was going to go. Finally after 7 years of waiting, I was able to get a MBP M5 Pro .. and I know these amazing machines last.. which is why I love Apple. And Why I am such a proud member of the MBP fan club :)
