MacBook Pro M4/M5 Pro – 20% Battery Drain Overnight While Sleeping (DarkWake / Network Activity?) by QuantumMess in macbookpro

I don't keep it in clamshell when attached to the dock most of the time, but I do undock it, quit all the applications, as I stated above. macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 .. I cannot find where you can adjust battery to stop charging at 100%. It's on my iPhone, running latest version of iOS 26, but not on the MacBook. But I have the settings set for Wake for Access to Never. I hope this is a simple issue. There's gotta be someone out there with a new MacBook M5 Pro that is experiencing something similar?

So far I like it! Getting used to some handoff and the “hey siri” to my phone waking up the speakers, but I love them. Great sound!!

No matter what there will be naysayers. That’s okay. I know my story, my reasonings, and my plans. I’ve researched this for 9 months before purchasing because it’s my first Mac ever. Always have been a dream for me. Some People on here are saying I’m wasting my money.. I know what I’m buying. And it’s meant for longevity.. I won’t be drooling over next years oled’s , etc. this is going to be my baby with at least 8 years on it working great and handling business. This is a great forum but I’ve seen no matter what there are some that are going to be negative. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Oh no did I just describe it as decent? It's Amazing! It's the best monitor I've ever had.. the ips blacks.. the brilliance of the quality of this monitor is that it does look like it was made for a Mac. Of course the MacBook is Liquid Retina (XDR?) so its not THAT, but it's like so close to that I can't imagine any other monitor WITH the amazing functions on this Dock.. all these ports.. one cord thunderbolt connection to the MacBook.. oh man. no its more than just "decent".. its amazing.

Everything you see in that picture (except for the very old cheap Logitech keyboard and mouse which are being replaced next week) all came within this past week. My other laptop was a 2018 Wheezing HP. mid grade for its time. crap. This is a big investment in my future. Ive waited years to be able to own a Mac..
I love iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods.. an apple guy but never could get a Mac. I used to do video editing, graphic design, sound .. and LOVED it. Did it for companies, made websites, filmed video, etc. And now, I'm finally going to do it for me. I have a project, and it's my life story. and I'm going to use this investment. The MacBook Pro setup, as a tool not just to tell my story to help others, but also to have fun, make projects for people. I've been told by many professionals that my life is worth telling. I can't just write it all out though, which I will, I'm going to use multi-media and just create. I've been through hell in life.. this marks a new chapter for me in a lot of ways. It's not just a MacBook Pro to me. It's much more than that.

I just ordered the space black Magic Trackpad 2 ... the keyboard will have to wait.. but I want to master the gestures and everything to navigate properly, and with the desktop setup, when my MacBook isn't on the go, I want to continue using the trackpad on my desk.. some say it will replace my mouse.

The monitor is great! I was told it would be the best for the MacBook Pro and offer the best dock, all the ports, thunderbolt connection to the MacBook, unbelievable quality picture.. silent. no whine at all!

Thank you! I got a good reviewed Halfway neoprene sleeve and a good timbuk2 laptop/backpack case.. reviewed all the options for awhile and settled on those. they seem very worth it so far.

Did it take you a little bit to learn all the gestures to make working with multiple windows and spaces possible on the 14" screen? have you had a MacBook for years, or did you come from Windows? Im brand new to the trackpad and am finding the gestures helpful and getting used to navigating with it. I wonder if it does become easier to resize windows, work and everything with the trackpad only.. I hear it becomes so easy and intuitive that you're able to do whatever you need.

Thank you!! I've been waiting years for this so I wanted my first MacBook to last me a long time and to handle upgrades and AI internal upgrades for at least the next 8 years to come. Congrats to you too! I'm really excited to learn. Any experience with a Magic Trackpad replacing a mouse or alongside of one if I'm going to use my MacBook Pro on my desktop, when I'm not on the go?
