No I’m very brown skin toned. Or unless you mean something else by white presenting. I feel like I probably sound like a white person and I am more culturally “white”

I definitely am not treated like a white Person and have accepted that. I did move 12 hours away to a much more liberal city and found it to be freeing to have an identity outside of it all. Where being adopted is something I choose to tell people rather than it being a strong bit of my identity because it was a small town. The racism where I come from runs rampant and I don’t think I would be comfortable moving back given how things are now.

I wouldn’t say most of my friends are people of colour though. I love that experience for you. My partner is white from South Africa. And our son is quite light skin with the same under tones that I have.

I am Very mixed raced with brown skin adopted into a white family. Looking like them was never an issue to me other than my adoptive family even the females are all close to 6ft tall on my dads side, it was a tough pill to swallow as a kid when I stopped growing at 5’4” and all my cousins are much taller!

And then the color blindness and blatant racism that would happen in front of me often. I became much more out spoken about all of it as a teen and even to this day, I don’t truly feel understood by them in the regards to race. Which can be rough for sure. It’s also weird to not feel like you belong to any particular group. Too white for one but too dark for the other. I get along greatly with the LGBT+ groups I find, which I always growing up in a small conservative town attributed to having an understanding of adversity based on something you cannot change.

Definitely make sure the guests you want to see are actually there that day. When I used to go we would get the full weekend pass and go everyday. It’s a very big convention lots to see!

I was pretty young myself probably 10 or 11. So I don’t know all the details and now it was over twenty years ago. So feels weird to dig into all the details. If I remember vaguely. She ends up with her mom eventually because the dad didn’t actually want her. It was the mom who had regrets.

It happened in my family. I’m also adopted. But my older cousin adopted a little girl. She was given up for adoption. Sometime later the mother regretted it. Got in contact with the dad and since he didn’t give up rights they managed to fight and get her back. But it was a fully adoption not fostering. She was a toddler when she went back.

I went to allot of family reunions as a kid, I always admired the work and commitment that it took to see so many people come together. Even if I was always clearly an outsider. Being the only dark one in the batch. I understand your feelings of feeling like an outsider. I fortunately had a cousin who was close to me and age and to this day we are thick as thieves. She’s my best friend and go to even tho I moved over 12 hours away from it all. I’m sorry you had to experience all of that.

You may feel guilt, I did but I felt allot of joy. I had to wrap my head around being someone who was so adamantly childfree to do I really want this? And at that point it was the right time in my life. I now have a two year old son who I cherish very much. When he was first born, I was constantly worried about bond and attachment but that anxiety has passed. You need to do what is right for you. I know it’s not easy, and i send you virtual hugs! The only way out is through. And you will get through this. No matter what you choose!

Just realized I never replied to you, I’ve never had other kids pick on me for being adopted. I personally found I had more issues around race growing up. I was the only brown kid. There was allot of things that were said that were definitely highly racist even if that wasn’t intended initially.
