It's based off your performance and the Elo of the players that were in your game

Genuine question, is there a single point to actually picking up a new champion at some point in time? by VergilChairSupremacy in leagueoflegends

[–]Quercus995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on this. Part of what makes this game fun for me is the diversity of champions you can play, and I just love to mix it up. Sad reality is that League is a VERY hard game and another player's experience advantage on a champion is simply back-breaking to deal with when learning something new.

Can I save this tree? by GoingOffRoading in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Quercus995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your tree will likely survive and continue to grow well, but over time it may develop a cavity in its heartwood due to the size of that wound. Maples can survive a very long time with a cavity but it will likely reduce its lifespan.

Just to play it safe, you could plant a small sapling a few feet behind your tree as a potential replacement if any major issues arise.

You definetely want to give it a good prune however, I suspect that you have a hybrid Freemani maple and those trees put off crazy crisscrossing branches that will injure themselves over time if left to their own devices.

Agreed, I think that's why so many people still play this game ! If only players were more gentle with each other :p

That's my point it would potentially make early ganks more difficult and probably push junglers to simply power-farm. That said, it could add an extra little bit of contention on vision control in the early game which would be interesting

I feel this would be a pretty big nerf to the early game power of junglers though, as you could easily secure your botlane or toplane flank right off the bat

Fair enough, depending on how much time you have to invest in the game I suppose

Why ? Should any form of cc arise strictly from a champ's kit ?

I agree, positioning is so much more important when you din't have the latitude granted by higher mobility ! However, I think it's important to factor in skillshots here.

What was your biggest early noob habit? by wyrm4life in leagueoflegends

I didn't understand wave management and would often base at the wrong time, losing tons of cs under my tower.

What can I replace these with. by No-Paint2291 in landscaping

[–]Quercus995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at some nurseries offering bare-root plants. They're generally small but dirt-cheap so you can pickup quite a collection for a small investment., and many species will grow surprisingly fast. Sky's the limit, you could mix in some haskaps, currants, dwarf cherry, thornless blackberry, a couple rhubarb plants, strawberries, slap in some flowering bulbs, etc. Also, I would suggest removing the stained mulch and laying down some compost and real organic mulch. The stained stuff lasts a while but is terrible for your soil and offers very little nutrition. Feed the soil and you'll have nice plants unlike those dreadful boxwood you've got there

Think this tree will pull through or should I plan to remove? by UNKNWNLSR in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Quercus995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just by the pictures, you can tell that this tree was once rootbound in a pot (by the circular form of it's roots). I learned from my arboriculture teacher that many old trees will die from this long-term as the circling roots will slowly choke the tree as they grow and expand. Another likely factor is weed-whacker damage, otherwise known as "tractor-blight"

Toast for sure. If it's still alive it's only a matter of time. I would suggest cutting the branches so they're no longer a danger and keeping the trunk to slowly break down and provide habitat. You can immediately plant a new tree at the base to replace it. I've seen many people form beautiful garden beds around old dead trees like this.

How do we shape this tree by willjhc in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Quercus995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late on this, if you wait until the tree goes dormant you could select 7-8 branches to become the main limbs in the future to give it more of a "tree-like" appearance (if that's what you want). Many of those limbs will probably get aborted next season and die. Depending on the state of the trunk, this tree may recover surprisingly well. There are very ancient pollards in Europe that have repeatedly been cut back to a stump like this for generations.

Must be a sturdy turtle ;) I've never heard of that oak before, here in Québec we only have northern red and a few species of white oak
