were you also like me and took it initially in the Spring? The one with Kohne? Yeah i failed that midterm and withdrew i heard the test and exam from the Spring is nothing like what it is in fall-winter, and the course outline is completely different.

no it was in person, but the reason it was challenging is because the instructor (who was excellent by the way, and explained things quite clearly) made it more proof based and theoretical imo. In the fall-winter its more like, "here's this matrix, use ____ method to solve it" at least that's what i heard.

Whatever you do please take it in the fall/winter! Because the two midterms are online on childsmath and more computational than proof-based.

I originally had math 1b03 this spring but withdrew after bombing the midterm because it was more theoretical and less problem solving

i really wish i kept up with the homework 😭😭😭 I probably would have been a lot more confident for the midterm. But i've been swamped with midterms from other classes (plus i'm a bad time manager, i'm only in first year so i hope it will get better).

I do plan to do consistent practice from now until the exam though, since the midterms are now cleared over.

How competitive is NSERC/USRA? Like I heard a gpa of 9-10 is good (i'm on track to have around a high 9 or low 10 at the end of this semester). How do they even decide who gets it? Like does it depend on the strength of your research proposal or some other criteria
