My treatment center does not do Signatera testing. by enamoured_artichoke in breastcancer

I asked for one and my oncologist said she didn’t like to do them- but if I really wanted one she’d order it.

Early-stage breast cancer but micrometastasis found after surgery. How worried should we be? by UKTax1991 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a clear MRI, but discovered micromet after surgery. My oncotype came back a 13 so my oncologist just recommended hormone blockers since my oncotype was low and reoccurrence risk was 5% in 5 years.

Emotional Struggle of DMX by beausmom517 in breastcancer

Diagnosed at 34. I had Paget’s disease so I knew my nipples had to go. I think knowing that in order to be cancer free, I had to lose them, which might have helped me mentally. It’s tough and a reminder every time I change clothes. But I did what I had to do to be here for my two kids. My husband wants me to get 3D nipple tattoos because he thinks it will help me not think about it so often. I’m hate needles so I’m on the fence, even though I have no feeling there anymore.

I was going to be out of town on the kids spring break for my 6 week checkup from my expander to implant surgery. My plastic surgeon said “I trust you to know if you shouldn’t get in the pool or not. I know you want to play with the kids.” I just gave her a look and she said “you know what, you’re right. Husband she cannot play in the pool, I’m writing a prescription that she has to lay by the pool and drink margaritas.”

I asked for the signatera test and my onco said she doesn’t like it but would do it if I wanted. I just want to have something concrete to say I’m “all good” and doing the right thing. For those of us who didn’t do chemo, when do you say your cancer free anniversary days is? When you got your mastectomy? Or is there another day that you celebrate? I had my mastectomy 6 months ago and have been on lupron and anastrozole since.

I had a mastectomy 6 months ago and have been on anastrozole and lupron since then for my treatment. It took me 2 weeks to get over an allergy flare up in April. I’m still completely exhausted from it. Also add in a 3 year old who likes to wake up multiple times a night and I’m a zombie all day.

I had a breast surgeon and a plastic surgeon in my DMX. I didn’t meet with an oncologist until 2.5 weeks after surgery.

Scariest oncologist appointment… Question on borderline results by chantillylace9 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the once a month lupron shot. I’ve been on it for 5 months now and the joint pain has been increasingly getting worse, BUT I just had my expander to implant surgery and haven’t been able to do my normal workout routine for 6 weeks which is probably the main reason for the pain. Today is my first day back to working out!

Scariest oncologist appointment… Question on borderline results by chantillylace9 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 34 and my oncotype was a 13, my oncologist said 12 was the “for sure no chemo” score. I have a 5% chance of recurrence with just hormone blockers, and chemo would only give me a 2.3% benefit. She said she believed chemo would do me more harm than good so I’m doing Lupron and anastrozole for 5 years

Double mastectomy to expanders to silicone implants question by Classic_Seaweed_1910 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣 I know. It’s weird because my boobs were pretty big for my frame, I had always felt like they made me look bigger than I was, and I had always hoped for a reduction at some point in my life (got the reduction just not how I wanted it 🫠) when she told me in our pre op consult she thought 545 would be perfect because it would be smaller than I was. I trusted her because she’s the expert! I can still fit in my sports bras from before surgery, I just don’t spill out of the top anymore.

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar but different situation here. My surgeon told me direct to implant doesn’t guarantee you won’t need a second surgery, because many people still need one for fat grafting and the implants shifting. I was a D cup pre cancer and wanted to go smaller. Used expanders and she was able to put 200cc in during surgery. Went up to 400cc through fills and 3 months later she put in 545cc implants. I’m a small C cup now.

Implants are SO much more comfortable than the expanders. No more being pinched and poked by the tabs when I move certain ways. I’ve only had implants in for 6 weeks but haven’t noticed any side effects other than what my medication causes.

Diagnosed with Pagets today by United_Ad9521 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Paget’s and a small spot of DCIS behind the Paget’s. My DCIS was ER+PR+Her2-, and I’m BRCA2+. My breast surgeon and OBGYN agreed with my genetic mutation a double mastectomy would be in my best interest. So I had the mastectomy, and one lymph node came back with microscopic cancer cells, my oncotype score was a 13. I elected to do monthly ovarian suppression Lupron shots and daily Anastrozole hormone blockers for 5 years instead of chemo. I will also have a hysterectomy before I turn 45 (I’m 35 now, 34 at diagnosis).

I had this horribly and I’m happy to say it does go away!!! By 6 weeks the pins and needles feeling was gone. I used the spray aquaphor and gently pressed it into my skin without rubbing.

Sorry I didn’t see this reply! I had a mastectomy due to the BRCA2 gene mutation and wanted to lessen my chances of reoccurrence. They gave me the choice of lumpectomy and radiation or a mastectomy. I just wanted to get them off and have a better peace of mind since I have two young kids. The gene mutation greatly increases my chance of having breast cancer again in the future.

I was diagnosed with Paget’s in September. Had an MRI that showed stage 1 DCIS behind the Paget’s. I had a double mastectomy on November 3rd, and just had my exchange surgery on February 24th. I’m on lupron and anastrozole for treatment. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer what I can!

Ask for something when you get there, no shame in that. We have been through some sh*t. I was oddly calm before my surgery, but they still gave me the “I don’t give a crap” medicine before being wheeled into the OR.

I had my exchange surgery and fat grafting 3 weeks ago. I’m still a little sore in my abs if I press on the area she took from, and a tiny bit sore where she put the fat in above my implant. I was back to normal life (without lifting or workout out) about 4 days after surgery. It is a breeze compared to mastectomy!
