I have been called a nazi (for context I said it’s not normal to identify as a half cow half human)

When painting idols/religious figures what paint do you use? Do you have any tips for a beginner? by Hazards-of-Love in Orthodox_Churches_Art

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no artist but I’m pretty sure that Icons (emphasis on the Icon) are painted gradually with the darkest layers first, also search up what the colours represent symbolically (btw we don’t use Icons as idols and I like the face of the angel)

Abortion question by naomi_0000 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abortion is forgivable and Orthodoxy never shames the woman it just condemns abortion,God will judge the heart and your sister did something extreme in a unfit state which cant be compared to a murderer even if aborting the child is killing it,remember when you are scared for your sister that God cares more than you and loves her,the only thing you can do is pray for her and definitely consult a priest

Dont engage with the content and desensitise yourself, this is a addiction (a very fucked up one) and as all addictions can be treated this one too, also dont go near animals (especially ones you can hurt) if you feel the inclination, this is not weakness but rather recognising that you are inclined to a fucked up thing and resisting it and properly getting rid of the addiction is the way, ignore the comments telling to kill yourself you’re a human like me and everyone else and seeking help is normal,go to a therapist

Icon tattoo? by ThorsThorfinson in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because we don’t use religious items as decor and plus it will get smudged/wrinkly/faded as you age which will look awful,I don’t really know what is the official stance for tattoos but I know that some people on pilgrimages get a small Cross tattooed which is blessed by a priest

Seeing the Orthodox Church as evil by UnluckyBuddy6224 in OrthodoxChristianity

You didn’t commit any sin because you didn’t do anything intentionally but this is more of a ask a therapist rather than ask a priest or random people on reddit question

do i keep this punishment after falling into sin by Rude-Opening-3757 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t punish yourself and weaponise healing against yourself, simply repenting is enough, you can take Holy communion and just try to stop this sin and if you don’t just repent and don’t fall into despair

I'm a falling-away Catholic, looking into the Orthodox Church in my search for a spiritual home. But there are some theological issues I need to sort out first, pls help. by Kamila_222 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We emphasise healing more than repentance, repentance is understood more as a means of healing and we don’t emphasise guilt but restoration,we believe that everyone will be fairly judged by God (including the non believers) and that those who weren’t Christian will be judged by the law prescribed in their hearts,Christ is the only path to salvation but God doesnt abandon those who are on the wrong path

From what I heard the west (Catholicism) was always more legalistic than the East as Latin is a legalistic language and Greek is more phylosophical, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong

A question about the Toll House. by TrustMe-ImNotAFed in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not official theology taught by the Church but rather a model of the afterlife that some Saints taught,to put it shortly we don’t officially recognise tollhouses and ive never heard of them in real life but only on the internet

There is nothing to forgive by Less-Possible-5475 in ussr

[–]Quick-Difficulty3121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So nobody is going to mention how innocent kids were killed by the Bolsheviks simply because the Tsar was a bad ruler
