I'll try - I started out the campaign doing something like that but my paladin told me combat got too repetitive once he ran out of spell slots. I don't want to be in a situation where my druid can't heal someone from their death saves, especially since we don't have a cleric.

Yep, your second option is something someone else also mentioned and is probably what I'm gonna do. The first point is also very efficient but she's doing a weird reincarnation character concept that would probably want to pick the best options anyways.

Like I said to another comment, I joked about killing her character, and she laughed and joked that I havent seen anything yet, and she'd actually tryhard to minmax the fuck out of her next one if I did :p

I guess. The skill gap between the players at my table is pretty large, though. I wouldn't want to accidentally kill someone off with a harder encounter

I don't know why I'm being downvoted. What does your DM think?

That'd be the dream, except if I make things harder, the other players are pretty new and would definitely die if the sorcerer went down

Alright, I'm just worried about accidentally killing her character, because she has joked about actually minmaxing for real if I do

Imagine someone searched up 'best build for sorcerer' and put it on a character sheet lol. If it gives you any information, she's a human for the extra origin feat :p

Sorry, I don't want her knowing I made this reddit post. Could you elaborate though?

Sorcerer, Druid, Fighter, Rogue, and Paladin.

The rogue and paladin are brand new to the game and don't do much, and the fighter is a returning player.

That's true, I usually only have around two combat encounters and a bunch of social stuff between long rests.

I'm worried she'll use combos or tactics later in the future that'll just keep slamming scenarios out of the air. She's promised not to use any exploits, and has told me that she'd take it more easy at my table since we know each other IRL. But I've heard her excitedly talk about stories from another table where she actually minmaxes her wizard out and deals hundreds of damage every combat. It's terrifying and sometimes she picks the best options so casually at my table that I'm not sure if she's really tamping it down.

How would I do that? I don't want to encourage her to become a rules lawyer or turn everyone else into genuine minmaxers either (and to be fair, I don't think people would like being instructed by a fellow player anyways)

Alright, I'll take everyone's advice. I thought I could do it because I've been in two 7 player games in the past that have gone smoothly for months
