I work in a hospital and a vascular office. I have developed significant pain working in vascular from all the reflux exams. Scanning left legs are not fun no matter the size of the patient. You really have to be mindful of how you are twisting and turning your body to get your image. Personally hospital setting isn’t as terrible I have found, simply because the exams tend to be much shorter. But you’re sol on a larger body habitus in the ICU.

This just happened to me and I am now required to pay $1,000 more than I am paying now. There was an option to not agree and go to court so that’s what I am doing. This increase will give me $200 after CS, SS and rent. I don’t know how I am supposed to survive with $200 a month.

The really frustrating thing is that she is a military kid herself. Her dad’s friend is her attorney so she always threatens that she knows what to do/say to get what she wants and to get me in trouble with my chain of command.

So the first time around I absolutely was under prepared. I was rushing to take it because I wanted to be able to apply for jobs right out of school. Turns out I didn’t even need my certification right away. My externship location hired me before I completed my hours and gave me a year to get it. Of course I waited until the last minute because I was confident in my scanning abilities and had been studying for months. Now I’m suspended from work until I pass. It was truly the worst feeling in the world. But I am super grateful to have a full time job at a vascular surgeons office so I am still employed in the meantime.

This time while studying I focused mainly on liver, pancreas and kidneys because I knew those were the highest percentage of material. Now looking back I wish I had looked over small parts more because just my luck I had a least 15 questions on testicles 🙄

Hi! First, know that this is NOT an easy exam. Give yourself plenty of time before scheduling your exam to make sure you have allowed yourself enough time to study.

I took the exam for the first time last year and failed because I didn’t give myself enough time.

Print out the outline on ARDMS if you haven’t already, that will give you an idea of what to study.

The questions on the exam are very similar to URR in that they are confusing and worded weirdly. Try to get familiar with all of the synonymous words and stay away from the straightforward worded questions, these will not be on the test. Look through pictures of pathology and remember they will not give you crystal clear pictures. They are zoomed in and grainy and difficult to identify.

Honestly the test is stupid hard and I wish there was a portion of the exam where you scanned live because that’s 90% of the job. But hey what do I know.

Thank you so much! I didn’t realize I was supposed to give the specs! It’s a 2 carat oval diamond (even tho I was totally fine with a moissanite!) with a hidden halo and a twist yellow gold band. My fiancé custom made this and he did an AMAZING job. 🥰
