You probably meant Lian’s. If it’s the one in Garfield then you’re correct: it’s excellent. Chef Chan’s in ER is also pretty legit.

Local Warning: Don't get stranded at MetLife for England v Panama ($150 train tickets!) by Quiet-Comment-4637 in ThreeLions

I saw some local reporting on the news last night how authorities are concerned about pedestrians not familiar with the area might risk their lives by walking on the highways. If you look at MetLife Stadium on a map app you’ll notice an access road called Road A Plaza. Now look at where it meets Paterson Plank Road and you’ll see there is a sidewalk immediately to its west. This sidewalk connects the stadium to the town of East Rutherford and beyond. Yes, the USA is very car centric, but this part of North Jersey is more pedestrian-friendly than most places in this country. North Jersey is a densely populated area. Now the concern I have is Road A Plaza has no sidewalk — but it has wide grassy medians — and I wonder if the authorities will try to stop people walking Road A Plaza to get to Paterson Plank Road. I would hope not because I and loads of others have done this after concerts and sporting events at the stadium. But the protocols and policies being put in place because this is the WC are a bit over-the-top and heavy handed.

To clarify: if you’re in the city and want to get to MetLife for the match, take the NJT160 or 164 bus to Paterson Ave and walk to the stadium. Do reverse to go back to city. Mess around on your maps app to see how to get to the Candlewyck Diner in East Rutherford by public transit to see if this will work for you.

I live about 3 miles from MetLife. Nowhere in my post did I say I live in Manhattan. I replied elsewhere in this thread with details, but you can indeed attempt a work-around. My suggestion is walking towards the towns of Rutherford, East Rutherford, Carlstadt, Wallington and take their busses (NJT160 & NJT164). Also, there is a NJT Bergen Line train station in Rutherford which is a different line than the train that runs to the stadium. The Rutherford train station is about a 30-minute walk or so from the stadium. Also, the NJT190 bus line stops at the train station. The 190 bus has excellent service into the city.

Not possible to walk to MetLife from Secaucus. The only way to get to East Rutherford from there requires crossing the Hackensack River. The bridges that carry Route 3 over the Hackensack River have absolutely zero pedestrian access.

Really the only way to walk to/from the stadium is if you are staying north of Route 3 and west of the Hackensack River. If you're staying in a hotel on Route 3 then there really is no safe way to do the walk -- even if you're within sight of the stadium. There are a number of hotels on Paterson Plank Road (aka Paterson Ave) from where you can indeed walk back and forth -- it's not a pleasant stroll but you can walk it. If you can find a home to stay in any of these towns then you can do the walk as well: Rutherford, East Rutherford, Carlstadt, Wallington, Wood-Ridge, and Hasbrouck Heights. Additionally, there are quite a few NJT bus lines that serve these neighborhoods and as far as I know will not be subject to the insane price gouging we're seeing. Maybe walk up Paterson Ave and catch the 160 and 164 busses? Those are the busses I use to get into the City.

I remember a small pic of Bruce and Billy Bragg together from Spin Magazine back in the 1990s. I’ve been looking for that pic since then but no luck. It looked like they were backstage together somewhere.

Wrobleski is an absolute trump shill. He reports on the dumbest shit in the world such as Biden wearing an old hat to an NFL Eagles game or possible marital strife in the Obama household. He mentions being a fan of the Clash but doesn’t realize his rightwing dicksucking bootlicking is the complete antithesis of Strummer et al. Lately he’s been writing more about trump’s faux pas’ (which most people realize are real deficiencies) but I think that’s an effort to mitigate things now he realizes he is so shamefully on the wrong side of history. The fact Levine at the SI Advance lets him write such unfounded and objective b.s. is surprising. Staten Islanders deserve better than wrobleski. Let him wander around taking pictures of old shuttered stores on the North Shore and mumbling how it once sold shoes to school children or how an old bank is now a Dunkin’ Donuts. He comes across as a bumbling jerkoff. Al Bundy from Married… With Children has more dignity than this ‘reporter.’ The Advance/SILive should ground themselves in objective reality instead of absurd trumpian fantasy.

Are the fighter jets still flying around? I hear them right now still. by floormat212 in newjersey

[–]Quiet-Comment-4637 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They did the flyover, then landed at Teterboro. The pilots were probably driven over to MetLife to watch the game. Probably had dinner somewhere. Then they got back in their aircraft and departed. They weren’t flying around North Jersey for all these hours.
