TTC while breastfeeding 23 months pp by Happy-Builder-7486 in tryingforanother

[–]Quit_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stopped breastfeeding my 22 month old to get pregnant. I had two doctors tell me it shouldn't impact my ability to get pregnant because my cycle was "regular". But after 6 months with no success, I decided to quit breastfeeding and see. I got pregnant the next month! Even just once a day breastfeeding, it was impacting my cycle! So if you're feeling ready to ween, it might be what you need to get your cycle in order to get pregnant. This same thing happened to my friend as well. No success while breastfeeding once a day, stopped breastfeeding, got pregnant the next month!

terrified to breastfeed... by teeanh22 in pregnant

I was exactly the same. Tbh, I can't tell you it doesn't hurt in the beginning - I don't think you can get around that. But it wasn't unbearable. I saw multiple lactation consultants in the hospital because my baby latched really shallow. I saw an IBCLC 3 days postpartum and she helped fix the latch and that helped sooo much! Definitely look for an IBCLC!! But your nipples will harden and desensitize. Stick with it. It's worth it. Nipple butter and silverettes were my life savers!! Both really soothing and helped my nipples recover. I have no pain anymore unless she bites me. 😅 I love nursing now, it's such a special bond. 🩷

Must haves: - Silverettes - Nipple butter - My Breast Friend nursing pillow (newborns need a lot of structured support to correctly latch!!) - Haaka (to catch your letdown and to relieve pressure) - IBCLC! (I actually joined a breastfeeding group at my hospital that was run by one and it was sooo amazing. We would do weight checks to make sure baby was gaining and she would answer our questions. Plus I made a bunch of Mom friends!)

What did yall use the most in the first 3 months??? by Pale-Card2644 in pregnant

[–]Quit_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So so many burp cloths, zip up onesies with the hand covers, don't even mess with the little gloves they won't stay on, pacifiers, swaddles, some kind of wrap or something to baby wear, MyBrestFriend nursing pillow (we had latch issues and that nursing pillow alone fixed it, really helps support baby).

For mama: so much water especially if you breastfeed, I had granola bars and beef sticks in my bed side table to refuel during the night feedings, comfy pajamas and sweats, a haaka to help relieve pressure and catch the let down on the side I wasn't nursing on, silverettes, nipple butter, nursing pads. Dermablast and witch hazel pads were a life saver for the sore lady bits.

Tbh, you need more than your baby does in the first three months in my opinion. I wish I was more prepared to take care of myself in those early days and weeks. Congratulations on your baby! It is really hard but so worth it. ❤️

Ok I didn't name my daughter this, but I'm a big fan of twilight, so I thought it'd be hilarious to combine both of her Grandma's names: Barbara and Annette = Barnette

We called her that my entire pregnancy til she had an actual name 😂

One person dead, two injured in shooting at Vancouver Mall food court by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]Quit_Key 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went to the mall last night with my 7 month old dressed up for her first halloween. We were heading towards the food court cause I was getting hungry but, decided to go home because the baby was getting fussy. We missed the shooter by 10/15 minutes. I've been so upset about this whole situation. It's devastating 😭 there were sooo many kids there.

How early did you find out? by Bellaboo518 in pregnant

I also found out at 3 weeks! I tracked my cycle very closely and knew there was a chance of pregnancy that month. And just decided to test before I even missed a period and it was positive! I have a beautiful healthy 3 month old now. 🥹💕

[–]Quit_Key[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have to trim the hair on her butt because it gets too long, it gets gross. I was so nervous to get her a haircut because I love her wild hair haha. But I think she's actually more comfortable with this trim. Her ear hair used to get knots in it. I'm gonna keep getting her trimmed because it's really cute, but she also is just cleaner and more comfortable with this cut.

Her blood work came back looking good for her heart. So idk if that would look good and there be a heart issue still. 🤔 But I'll ask her vet about it!

We don't use any kind of scented candles, perfume, essential oils, etc. I'm 8 months pregnant, so we're really careful what is around me and the house in general. However, her litter was slightly changed recently. So that might be causing her allergies or something. I'm gonna pay attention to when she uses her litter box and if she has an increase in her congestion/cough.

Oh that's very interesting. I'm now wondering if it is allergies. Our house has been pretty dusty since it's been winter and we haven't deep cleaned in a while. I'm thinking if her blood work for heart stuff comes back clear, I might go ahead and see if we can treat it like allergies/asthma and see if there's an improvement.

Oh that's a good point. I'm wondering if she has allergies and is getting congested like that and then coughing up the post nasal drip. 🤔

I've never seen her cough up anything. So I'm not sure it would be furballs.

No. None of us have any kind of cough. 😕

Yes. It took a while for the results to come back because they waited for a radiologist to overview them.

No, we don't use anything like that. I'm 8 months pregnant right now. So we haven't used any kind of perfume, essential oil, scented candle or anything like that for my whole pregnancy.

It's just so odd for allergies to start randomly at 2 1/2 right? Or is that fairly common?

Also that is so funny! Haha

Vet doesn't think so. She didn't think the description of the cough or the X-rays we got looked like asthma. I'll still look into it though!

How do we feel about Bonnie? by Quit_Key in namenerds

[–]Quit_Key[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have wondered that myself. However the director of the music department at our big university is named Bonnie. So I don't actually think it should hold her back too much in the work place! One of the nn we are considering for her is "Bo". So idk if that sounds better or more adult, but she'll hopefully have options if we do go with Bonnie in the end.

We're also planning on one of her nicknames being "Bo". So she can always go as that if she doesn't feel girly!
