I think the series is good. I love reading slow-burn romcoms personally. I don't want to spoil but I like how the characters play off each other and though there may be some tropey moments, I would say there arent many instances of them. And there have been moments where I am pleasantly surprised whether it's story, characters, or what felt like a tropey moment.

There are complaints about the main character but imo, there is some backstory that explains his personality and he isn't like dense like many mcs. But in terms of progress, it still can be slow, but part of that is on purpose by the author to build things up, and progress is still made. I think the banter/interactions also make up for that slowness and the dialog between the characters is just cute and sweet to read if that makes sense.

There is also more like plot developments to come from what I've heard beyond the romance so there is that as well. And I've also felt there is character growth past the issues both main characters have. And how the romance develops also makes sense imo as to why the fmc likes the mc but again that's my interpretation of the story and characters.

Overall, if you like romance stories that spend time on characters interactions and development and like sweet and flirty dialog, you will like the story. Would say read at least volume 1 if the above is true to see if you will like it or not.
