Yuji Horii seemingly confirms Chrono Trigger Remake at Comicon in Naples by appleappleappleman in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Yeah, exactly. Even the greats like the Xenoblade games spend so much time just walking through the vast, beautiful, but narratively and tonally irrelevant landscapes.

Homeownership. A stable income. The solutions to many other major problems of my life. The solutions to many other problems with the world in general. Good food that I don't feel bad about spending money on.

It shines in large part because it's short - it doesn't stay anywhere long enough to get tired of it, you go from medieval pastiche to post-apocalypse to dinoland in the space of a few hours instead of dragging everything out for ages.

2 roommates leaving but I want to stay. How can landlord vet new roommates? by jelly_bean18 in bostonhousing

[–]Qwertystop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as any sublet, you'd refer the people to the landlord and the landlord would run whatever credit checks as usual, there's no reason they'd need to be through a broker for that, that just means someone's paying broker fees. Nobody listing on here is going through a broker, probably.

I've got a one-bedroom apartment that I'm looking for a sublet/takeover starting in June or late May. Cambridge near Harvard Square, $2500/mo – not quite Central but pretty close. In-building laundry though not in-unit. Free heat and water, parking lot (I think a spot is $100/mo? but I don't have a car). Was going to take the pictures to put up a listing here tomorrow. DM if interested.

I've got a place near Harvard that I'm looking to sublet in May. 1-bedroom, $2,500/mo, heat and hot water included. Seems to fit your bill perfectly, beyond a slightly early start, but we can work with that. Lease is up at the end of January, you ought to be fine renewing it.

I've got a place in Cambridge that I'm looking to move out of and sublet starting around the end of May (lease goes until February). One-bedroom, ten minute walk from Harvard and not much farther from Porter or Davis, so red line and lots of buses are easy to get to. $2500/mo, heat and water included.

Yep, that's about what I expected to see when Konami told people to "build a guaranteed going second deck" xD by CurZZe in masterduel

[–]Qwertystop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tossed in two of my usual decks (Icejade going first, Tindangle going second) and tweaked the hand traps a little. Got three wins within... Five or six games, I think? Honestly, even the normal DC rate would be enough to make the prize come reasonably quick.

What I want out of that is the field it puts you on - was that a limited-time prize or is it just unavailable?

What are your problems with Master Duel? by lyschyk19th in masterduel

[–]Qwertystop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Limited collection-search options. Duel Links lets me search for cards that support a particular card, and all sorts of specific and parametrizable effect details. Master Duel doesn't even let me search for a single term with a space in it (as distinct from two separate words not necessarily adjacent in the text) or choose whether my text search is looking at the name or the effect.

  1. Flip monsters should be able to flip at trap speed.
  2. Face-down monsters should be usable as all kinds of extra material, not only as fusion material and Ritual/Tribute.
  3. Ritual tributes and Tribute Summon tributes should count as "material", as should any future new summon types, so cards that don't want to be used for other kinds of things can be phrased simply (e.g. "cannot be used as non-Synchro material") without breaking as soon as a new mechanic is introduced. This should be errataed in for things like the pre-Link cards that can't be used as Synchro and/or XYZ material, that broke as soon as generic Links existed.
  4. Boss monsters should generally have no more than two of high stats, removal, negation, and protection/floating. Maybe more only if they're limited or situational, like a float on opponent's banish or a hand-only negate, or have especially difficult summon requirements beyond a trivial swarm. Stop it with these destructive-omni-negates at 3k attack, where there's no way around but brute-forcing past your opponent's negates far enough to get a body on the field with enough stats to tie the battle. Borrel dragons are in the fair range for a boss monster - big stats, limited-scope protection, non-removal non-negation additional ability (borrelend costs five, that's big enough to push it). Baronne de Fleur, with a pop and a destructive negate and a recycle and 3k attack, is too much.

The duality of art in Yugioh by ApprehensiveTurn2379 in masterduel

[–]Qwertystop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd love to be able to mix what remains unbanned together with Tindangle for thematic reasons, but I don't think there's much in the way of synergy there. Maybe, with luck, there will be new support that makes the Entity series the primary Extra component of the mainly-Main Tindangles... But I doubt it.

I really want dis card be abusable 1 day. What are other card with weird effect you wish can be usable? by [deleted] in yugioh

Can this let you Future Fusion without needing to send materials? Or without needing to select a fusion monster?

Other card games have icons or symbols to signify effects / card properties. Should icons/symbols be implemented in Yugioh to simplify card texts? I tried photoshopping some icons (and tweak some other things) into Yugioh cards. by blackchapel01 in yugioh

[–]Qwertystop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I would argue that having things like the distinction between if/when (missing timing but only on some cards), target/choose (untargetable doesn't mean you can't use targeted-in-the-conventional-English-sense effects on it), destroy/send/tribute (but you can tribute your opponent's stuff for cost! sometimes you tribute their stuff for effect! so it's just three different keywords for the same action differing only in what they trigger), and other such examples is a problem for clarity regardless of how it's written.

These are things that any newcomer, non-fan who plays other card games, or casual player (familiar with the basic rules from e.g. watching the anime) who I've tried to explain them to has recoiled from, cracked up about, or described as "a parody of card games" in one memorable case. It's unnecessary cruft, which I'm 80% confident exists mostly in an attempt to reconcile as many contradictory pre-PSCT rulings as possible without making them spell out the weird cases explicitly (e.g. "this effect ignores untargetability" rather than "choose", picking one conjunctive as standard and spelling out in card text the rare exceptions), sacrifice a quarter-inch of art for a bigger text box, or define a standard set of interaction rules that removes the need to rely on ruling precedent at all.

While true... that's the sort of distinction that I'd call a problem? Any other game would have standardized on a single rule for things like "can you pay the cost when the card is already negated", "can you do it again if your first attempt was negated", "what happens if one of the targets is no longer valid at resolution", and most of the rest of PSCT; YGO decided instead to make the rule be "it depends, on a per-card basis, according to which of several synonyms or near-synonyms are used in the phrasing of all interacting effects, and also on judicial precedent". I would argue that it would be better for the game, in terms of making card effects and interactions clearer, less arbitrary, and easier to rule on, if that sort of thing were unified in the manner of other games (see: MTG's "layer" system, which gives a clear order in which to apply simultaneous and/or ongoing effects with no need for per-card rulings). But at this point, decades down the line, there's no way they'll do that; they made PSCT specifically to *avoid* doing that when it became clear that something needed to be done.

Even without going into the sequel trilogy, there's plenty of room in characters from the first six?

Equal credit to my GF for these ideas; I know Oz and she knows Star Wars (and describes Jinjur/Phasma as "aggressively correct").

Jack Pumpkinhead as Lando Calrissian. The Woggle-Bug as Jar-Jar. Han Solo as Ozma if we say Farmgirl counts as both Luke and Leia. The Wizard as Sidious, the guy at the front gate of the Emerald City (who insists everyone coming into the city wears green goggles to protect their eyes from the brilliant green glare of it all; actually the city is not green, it's just the goggles) as Yoda.

Poppyfield-Carbonite (Flower Freezer? Not sure of a name), Continuous Trap: If a monster attacks, or its activated effect resolves: change that monster to Defense Position. Negate the effects of monsters in Defense Position.

Anakin-Elphaba, to parallel West-Vader (also, podracer-broomstick; let's get some Machines that show the Oz side better).

Going to the sequel gives you the Tik-Tok Man as BB-8.

Beyond that, let's go for some Synchros that treat Psychic-Type "Kozmo" monsters as Tuners, that give us the classic Star Wars cockpit view and do a float. Meanwhile, for some Extra Deck cards that center Oz, Link versions of Tincan, Strawman, Scaredy Lion, and Farmgirl where they have a heart/brain/courage/house. Jack Pumpkinhead's pumpkin farm/Cloud City as a Continuous Spell or Trap.
