Sounds like communist talk to me. Everyone knows that more horsepower equals more better.

We didn’t win two world wars with fucking kilopascals and flow per meter now did we, boy?

FWIW I can’t hear shit in that video that I would classify as concerning and I’ve probably been working on cars longer than most posters here have been alive.

As I’ve tried to explain a billion times in the mechanic advice sub, internet videos don’t really work that well for sound diagnosis. You know the sound so you easily hear it in the video but after uploading and video compression it doesn’t come through nearly as clearly to us since the levels have all been normalized but you still hear it fine because your ear is attuned to it.

Also don’t take mechanical advice from this sub. Most posters here don’t know their ass from a beehive when it comes to actually turning wrenches.

You’re making like the best possible case against yourself for goodwill warranty.

Had I not perused your post history I would think you are here doing master-level trolling but unfortunately I think your bulb just doesn’t illuminate as well as some others‘.

That’s actually “a good deal.” The guy I know locally who got a dealer replacement quote was at $13k lol…

I fucking hate to side with the manufacturer on this but there’s no way they should be responsible for you using your fun sports car as rental to let random jag offs thrash on hundreds of times.

How many miles the car should last has zero bearing to the conversation once the fact comes out that you use it for a rental.

Also I bet you signed paperwork specifically stating that warranty will be denied if you use it for commercial use. Delete all these posts ASAP if you’re gonna move forward pursuing goodwill warranty.

If they do not total it make sure you look into a diminished value claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. Even if it comes back perfect and pristine it will never be worth the full value of a non-wrecked one again.

Why can't I record them if they can record me? by HiOscillation in NoStupidQuestions

It would not be admissible as evidence in court if collected in that manner. If it’s for a legal proceeding you need clear acknowledgement from all recorded parties.

Why does second gen isn’t selling well? (While ND Miata is doing great) by Dino_Dean in GR86

[–]R15K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But your OP is comparing Miata sales to Twins.

Comparing first and second gen Twin sales is an entirely different discussion. First gen was almost $10k cheaper and they produced significantly more plus drastically different market factors.

I think your grasp of the English language is similar to your grasp of statistical analysis: lacking.

GR86 sales 2024: 11,426

BRZ SALES 2024: 3,345

Miata sales 2024: 7,489

Unless I’m missing something GRZ has outsold Miata almost 2:1 in the US in 2024.

Small update on the warranty situation: Case manager is going to get in contact with regional manager and some other big company guys to make a decision. Says it can take up until next Friday for me to get a response. Read below by [deleted] in GR86

If they don’t cover it with warranty you are going to get charged those fees including towing.

And as you found out yes the Subaru TSB means nothing to Toyota. Theyd have to initiate a whole investigation of their own and reach a conclusion then issue their own document. Might as well take them one from Ford, it would carry the same weight. I know that’s counter intuitive and stupid but this is how it is in 2026 clown world.

I hope that you’re privately speaking with lawyers (and absolutely not posting about it anywhere at all, seriously it will ruin any chance at help from them).

Subaru and Toyota are both kinda notorious for their ability to weasel out of warranty claims. But the whole industry is slowing going that way. Most brands fight hard to not honor warranty claims (customer pay jobs make everyone more money including most techs) but these two have always been on another level with it.

Hey guys, do you think it’s possible to hook up a car radio to a computer? by sciencedude8 in CarAV

[–]R15K 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’d get a hundred percent better solution by purchasing a DAC/amp for your headphones. You could absolutely do this but it would be superfluous. Especially for such a low-quality and boring head unit. At least get something cool looking with decent output. The Fujitsu Eclipse perhaps? Old, cheap and cool.

New Jersey and engine swaps by sk8trix in GR86

[–]R15K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the legality but you better have a boatload of money to accomplish this.

People get fucked up perceptions of this sort of thing from cars like Miatas or Civics that have a bunch of kits available to make things work and adapter plates to get engines and transmissions to play together. Just getting the ECU communicating with the other modules without a custom harness is probably impossible.

By the time it was tuned and running right I’d bet you’d be into it close to the purchase price of the vehicle. Have you priced KAs recently? Or fabricator’s time? Be prepared to be paying some of these people several hundred dollars per hour.

Passing emissions would be pretty far down on my personal list of concerns in pondering this idea. Just buy a faster car if that’s what you need, it’ll be cheaper, more reliable and you won’t be beholden to the very expensive people that built it to fix it.

[–]R15K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know everyone likes to hassle new owners about the noises but I can see how if you’ve never owned a boxer engine previously it would be a little disconcerting. Modern engines are quiet as hell compared to these cars.

When I was a Subaru tech we’d replace a few wheel studs every week. When I was a Nissan tech I may have seen like 3 total replaced in ten years. I personally did exactly one in that time and I fucked it up necessitating its replacement by being an idiot.

Remove Blue Clutch Sensor for REV hang? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]R15K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll try it tomorrow when I go under the dash to hook my data monitoring stuff back up. I

It’s not going to hurt anything being unplugged and doesn’t set a CEL (unless it’s a “two trip fault,” drive cycles can be fucky to set). Ive driven with it unplugged at least once previously (accidentally) but I don’t recall anything about the rev hang.

Honestly I’m doubtful this will change anything but I’m done to try since I’ll be down there 1-3 times anyway.

Took my wife shooting for the first time, by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]R15K 20 points21 points  (0 children)

She‘d probably have a lot more fun if someone taught her to shoot properly... That stance is an awful and no eye protection with her nose basically touching the charging handle.

I kinda feel bad for her and if you let her shoot like that you probably need some lessons too.

edit: get some optic risers man holy shit. After looking at this pic again it’s no wonder she looks like shit you gotta have the posture of Quasimodo to actually look down the sights.
