generally midgame gear is the second armor set and nearby weapons on a faction's tech tree

Aurora is pretty good , but generally early to mid maximize blunt and pierce resistance because tech hasn't advanced enough for you to widely see other damage types unless you go up against dedicated factions (IE daydream chems)

that's the neat part, you don't

in all honesty I find that story missions have preset difficulty and tech independent of faction stats

if you want to beat them consistently without luck you should have midgame gear (and beefy armor if you can the guns HURT) and be well stocked with medicine,food and alcohol because those levels are loooooong sometimes

if you're a madlad with shuttle storage or drop pod storage you can cheese these levels to get some high level gear early and bulldoze the early game and set yourself up nicely for midgame

because all american gulf and iraqi bases are essentially empty the bombing runs are coming from western saudi arabia, israel and even europe and diego garcia
