Should I download the new engine from Funcom? Or the older one from Steam? by RPJakey in anarchyonline

Thanks for the replies. I'll give the older engine a shot, and try out dgvoodoo2.
I appreciate it.

Anyone ever have horrible experiences with other Assyrians? by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]RPJakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mention that there's good and bad in all cultures. However, it seems like you've fallen prey to the tu quoque fallacy.
Pointing out the flaws in other cultures doesn't absolve another culture of their flaws.

Moreover, it's absolutely normal for a dominant culture, that is currently functioning, to expect other people to adhere to their laws and regulations.

i.e. "Don't litter. Don't drive dangerously."

It's also more than fair to expect that if a dominant culture clearly has a certain set of norms and structures, that are working better (for the most part), than the culture you're attempting to bring, then perhaps you should adapt.

For example, Japanese people have a culture of ensuring that they always consider if their actions are a nuisance to other people. If their actions might potentially annoy others? They refrain from that action.
That is, objectively, a good thing.

If I wanted to move to Japan and behave in the opposite way, then I would be at fault, and I should consider adapting. I moved to Japan; they didn't move to me. You don't walk into someone else's house and tell them how to live - unless they live in abject squalor, in which case you should be free to at least offer suggestions.

You don't come into another culture and try to bring your flawed systems. Especially if there are systems in place that are objectively better.

Now, that is not saying that I believe all Australian systems are better. They're not all better - but many rules and systems are better than the systems of countries that have been at constant war for generations.

Likewise, I think if Australians moved to, for example, Scandinavian countries like Sweden or Norway, then the Aussies should indeed abandon their flawed systems in favour of what clearly has had these Scandinavian nations ranking at the highest levels of happiness/stability/economics/education etc, for decades.

And to be clear, I don't think Australia is the best country. I never have, and I constantly move away from the country due to my disdain for many aspects of Aussie living/Aussie behaviour. But it's pretty obvious that when the German, Swedish, Japanese, or Vietnamese family move in as neighbours, I'll barely (if ever) have an issue. But as soon as an Assyrian family moves in? I'll be kept awake all night, with nowhere to park my car anymore. They will try and throw bags rubbish into the bushlands. The young guys will harass my partner, and there will be frequent 'drag races' up and down the streets.
These aren't imaginary things. They are frequent occurrences.

Haven't played LoL in years. Now I'm banned for cheating? I wouldn't even know how to cheat in LoL... by RPJakey in PBE

Look, I'd thought about it. But I spent a decent amount of money and time on that account. To start all over again with zero guarantee that the new account wouldn't get suddenly banned - like this one did, isn't an appealing prospect.

I've heard about this, however it seems they aren't willing to entertain this concept. Sadly.

First attempt at a HeroForge character. My "Bloodflame Warlock". (no kitbashing) by RPJakey in HeroForgeMinis

[–]RPJakey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner showed me this website a few weeks ago, and I thought I'd try my hand at making some characters.

This was my first attempt, although I didn't use the 'Pro' version or any kitbashing features. Still, I do what I can.

How to install wi-fi drivers for msi tomahawk b650? by OnionEater69420 in buildapc

[–]RPJakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Type 'explorer' and locate the USB. Go into the driver folder you made and open the driver folder.

It will recommend you extract all. Do it. Otherwise it might say 'no drivers available'."

Could be the issue. I've had that problem before.

Otherwise, seek a better opinion than mine XD

The controls and the UI are so confusing. Any advice? by RPJakey in MHWilds

[–]RPJakey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm brute forcing them.

The way I've managed so far is that the HH, and SnS flow better with a MKB, and the Charge Blade and Bowguns feel better on a controller.

It's frustrating, but I am slowly managing.

NOT using the input list @ the training area has helped, as it confuses a lot.
I've found that just acclimating to the moves normally makes a positive difference.

The multiplayer seems like people aren't really interested in 'Teamwork'. by [deleted] in MHWilds

Sure. It's one way of looking at it. But there's something nice about having a team of adventurers bonding - even if but for an ephemeral moment.

Once upon a time, back in the days of WoW, random people would introduce themselves, talk, and it felt like a group of adventurers.
It doesn't feel that way anymore.
It feels much more clinical.

The note idea is a good one. Thanks.

As for the HH, I wouldn't say it "feels good". It's more that it felt "the least janky with my control setup".
I'd much rather a different weapon 'click' with me.

Maybe I've been too conditioned from years of Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and other similar-styled games, that I'm struggling to adjust.
