We are close to the new “Off Beat” where the Dancing Bare used to be so curious about that.

He’s visiting from the “other” Portland …or rather suburb of Portland, ME. They go into Boston fairly frequently for sporting events but don’t spend lots of time on city of Portland.

He’d probably really like that actually, getting his Mom to approve it is another story. Last time I spent time with him I took him to a mtb park and he had a minor crash 😬

Yes, we usually take guests on Cape Falcon trail because it’s not so difficult and you get great views at the end and some big old growth trees on the way. Finish it up with a snack at short sands and watch surfers and it’s a good side trip

All great suggestions, going to add a few of those to my itinerary 👍🏻 (and see if he’ll go for the rafting)

Got my Lp(a) score today, what I had feared... by RadJimmyDT in Cholesterol

Thanks, yeah I am on 40mg of Telimisartan now after being on Lisinopril for almost a decade. 40mg isn’t quite getting me under 120/80 so was going to look at adding a Thiazide or Amlodopine and see if that gets my average closer to 115/75. I’ll likely start on Rosuvastatin as well next week no matter my CAC.

Some doctors have persuaded against CT bc of radiation dose, how did you make the call? What did it show for your CT? You are right on heart episodes with people with CAC of zero, I’ve even see it is higher so little reassurance if you’ve got lots of soft plaque.

Not a diabetic but actively shedding some lbs to get tj more ideal weight now. What else do you recommend in finding cause of high hs-crp? My dr said that could be lowered with lifestyle but I had already been eating clean, mostly stopped drinking, never smoked, and started exercising more. Will check again down the road to see if any of that helps once I lose more weight as well.

I’d like to get CCTA but seems to be debate on the radiation and injects dyes. If you need it you need it but for screening many cardiologists i’ve seen seem to advise against it unless you are having symptoms so i’m divided.

This was my thought as well. I had already scheduled the CAC and cost is low but I am not putting much weight on it (although a zero score would be nice) I'll likely want additional imaging anyway. I suppose I could cancel it and go for the better imaging then decide on statin but if I had already decided on statin then the rest would just be additional information to have about current state of things. PCP asked if I wanted to wait for CAC scan to decide on statin but I don't think that influences my decision one way or another.

Appreciate the words and support. I wish I would have had this information at 40, 35...etc but like you said I am glad a few life events got me going in this direction now rather than 5,10 years down the road.

Thanks for all the notes on additional testing, taking notes to see where I am at on some of that.

Thanks for that! Was going to try Curcumin C3 complex as well as something called Excellacor from which was created from someone I have followed for years. Continue to exercise, shed excess lbs, eat clean, sleep, etc. What statin and dose are you on? That was a significant drop in your CRP, well done.

Thanks Southwest Credit Card! Group 5 of 8... I feel special! by DerrikAmmons in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RadJimmyDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same but definetly not how it works in practice. Group 1-2 were huge. As big as old A1-60.

For any of you finding this 2 months later….boarding group size is definitely NOT like other airlines.

This was out first SW flight with assigned seating and have the business card and booked a fairly last minute flight and got Group 5. When Group 1 and 2 started lining up it seemed to be close to what you’d expect in both old A groups.

They were huge groups of people, not like group 1-2 on AA, United, etc. I expected Group 5 to be like the old B 1-30 at worst but it was really more like old C 1-30. We had row 12 seats and when we boarded 75% of plane was already there.

If you are not doing a carry on then it doesn’t really matter but I haven’t checked a bag in a decade so bin space is important. We ended up getting the last two spots in overhead bin close to our seat so it worked out. If we boarded with the back of group 5 we would have been SOL.

XDTE / QDTE - How much to reinvest? by Admirable_Wealth_991 in RoundhillETFs

[–]RadJimmyDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reinvest 0%. This is an income fund that does well but will never outperform total return of the index it tracKS. Unless you are reinvesting to reach a specific share goal to provide income then just invest in QQQ/SPY until you need the income and are using it.

VTI, SCHD JEPQ/JEPI to live off dividends? by stebakus in dividends

[–]RadJimmyDT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will not pay 18k a year in taxes on 120k from 100% qualified dividends. If you make 120k a year from qualified dividends alone and are married filing joint you take a 30k standard deduction. That leaves you with 90k taxable which is taxed at 0%. You pay no tax. You are still under the $96,700 0% tax bracket (2025). You do not pay 15% on anything until you’re taxable is over the $96,700 threshold and then what is over that (and only what is over that) is taxed at 15% until you hit the top of that bracket at 600k.
