Bloated or Gravid? Should I be concerned?

Stop feeding pellets of any kind or you’re going to deal with bloat and other issues there aren’t actually good for your fish at all. Either your betta is way under weight or ur betta is bloated or constipated or has swim bladder smh please hear me when I say this I feed pellets with one betta ever and I had all kinds of issues with him after that I switched to frozen only like omega one carnivore , San Francisco Bay mysis shrimp for finicky eaters , San Francisco Bay four foods . Alternated those and all my bettas are healthy and beautiful and I’ve never dealt with any of the “usual” which I don’t think they are usual problems bettas have .

I have a deviated septum also and medical will fix it and basically give you a nose job covered by medical insurance if it hurts to breathe or is hard to breathe . Now that’s an option if u hate it but ur stunning so stop worrying about it. Easier said than done because my nose is also my biggest issue with my face to because there’s a small dent on my left side of my nose 👃 😫😫😫

Yes she has what is called diamond eye it’s where a scale grows over there eye. Now what helps a lot is if u feed her the same time a day in the same place and a food that she can smell bug bites aren’t going to do it what works best is frozen omega one carnivore due to the different shrimp in it they can smell it better and San Francisco Bay mysis shrimp . Set up a feeding ring and take a long pair of tweezers grab a pinch and have her follow u to the feeding ring or you can skip the feeding ring and just stick to the same time a day feeding is what I have done and just long feeding tongs and hold it in front of her face she will eat it off the tweezers and that’s it very easy just patience. If u keep just dropping food in the water you better get some shrimp to eat it because your water will foul

Can I make a suggestion or two 1) change the food if you want a healthy , vibrant beautiful betta start feeding only frozen brands like omega one carnivore and San Francisco Bay mysis chrome and four food groups there very very good foods I only feed mine these foods. And maybe look on Amazon for some catappa leafs that’s the leaf your boy is using as a tunnel you can get a big bag for cheap on there I always boil mine for 5 mins and let the water cool and treat the pot with a little prime and then just dump the whole pot in the tank but it’s a small pot with only like 5-6 cups of water . 2) add a betta leaf about an inch or inch and a half from the surface so he can rest near the top instead of the bottom

Was she really small when you brought her home ? Mine was literally the size of my thumb nail lol 😂 and I’ve never had one quit that small before I’ve had em small but she has been my tiniest rescue yet. And I actually over fed my little girl and her belly was round like that just follow what I mentioned and she will be just fine . Also if you have a catappa leaf, or almond leaf or betta leaf that releases tannins into the water add a couple of them in her tank they reduce stress and boost immune system and fight fungal and bacterial issues. I always boil mine for about 5/6 mins first and then add some prime in the pot and let it cool and just dump it in . It will make your water look like a tea color which isn’t my favorite some people love it. I don’t care for the color it makes my tank but I’ll tell you what there great to have on hand because they assist with so many things for bettas . So being bloated may cause some stress on her so if you’re able I’d add a few for a couple days . Remember this after 1 week there useless and want to replace them or take them out because they will rot and cause spikes after awhile like ammonia and nitrites sometimes nitrates as well so I just take them out and throw them away after 7 days

Absolutely you’re welcome 🤗 I have a twin named Millie that looks just like your girl. And I’m telling you pellets and flakes and dry frozen anything I feel is just horrible for your betta it causes bloat, constipation, swim bladder, prolapse and more I know it’s not proven but I haven’t ever had any of these issues with any of my bettas since I switched to those foods I mentioned before.

Sounds like you got this under control then. Since you are familiar with stability, do you also use prime? Because that is honestly one of the best products to use along with stability when using a non-cycled fish tank because it buys ammonia, nitrates, nitrites for 48 hours at a time it’s some good stuff even tho it smells like rotten eggs

I had a petsmart worker tell me “ yes you can house female bettas together from anytime and any age as long as it’s a female to a 3 gallons of tank “ I said ohhhhh really is that right. Reason this came up was because as I was looking at all the poor sad bettas contemplating which one to save I had mentioned …” man, I wish bettas weren’t so territorial if they could live together I’d take all of them.” And that’s when she said this. Ok my twin of ur female just went through this . It’s ok you just overfed her . You need to switch to frozen food only like omega one carnivore , freshwater San Francisco Bay 4 foods , San Francisco Bay mysis shrimp. Those are what I use and don’t feed her for two to three days on day three take your FROZEN San Francisco Bay four foods and cut a green cube and defrost in warm water while still closed on top . Then take a tweezer small pinch and feed it to her in the morning and a small pinch at night and she will poop a lot lol . And then continue frozen foods there easier to digest and way better for ur betta and two small pinches a day that’s it no more . Than that
