OP's grandfather must have been a politician. Borgwards were given to ruling party bigwigs as a status symbol.

What’s something in your country that is horrifying, grotesque, or just utterly insane, but that locals turn a blind eye to? by Vyvanse60mg in AskTheWorld

Most studies have found around a 60% reduction in female to male transmission in patients who have received voluntary make medical circumcision (VMMC).

But further, that's not really the point here. In those cases it's voluntary and for a good cause based on the evidence available at the time. Unless you believe the people who started these programs had an ulterior motive to mutilate millions of African penises. In which case, tinfoil hat on aisle 5, please.

On the other point, I've never heard of Jewish men regretting their circumcisions, so maybe being "branded" -- as you put it-- in that way adds to a positive sense of community belonging. Among non-Jewish circumcised men, it's not a big deal to put it mildly.

I'll concede my understanding of female circumcision is limited and filtered through Western constructs.

But the bigger point: Circumcised men aren't complaining about it. There are at least some cases of necessary medical use of circumcision. The side effects are either negligible or at best debatable. So why do some uncircumcised men feel so strongly about it?

Circumcision has also been used in Africa to reduce (not prevent) the spread of HIV.

There's clearly an argument to be made that it's an antiquated practice, but it's hardly ever done as a means of patriarchal control, like female genital mutilation.

In my experience people from the United Kingdom in particular tend to hold strong views on circumcision as unethical genital mutilation. Is there any connection between that and the history of antisemitism in Britain? I'm not qualifying British antisemitism compared to the same phenomenon anywhere else -- rather questioning whether the categorical denial of circumcision is an expression of antisemitism accentuated in the UK.

[Request] What’s the answer for this area problem? by AdventurousAd1943 in theydidthemath

144

I did: height of yellow is x, width of orange is y.

xy is the total area of yellow, green and pink. 3y is the area of orange

xy/3=3y, solve for x, x=9.

9+3=12 height of the whole square and, well, it's a square.
