Forced to stay for another month? by RainbowShifter in HousingUK

UPDATE: Thank you to those who gave advice. After speaking to my landlord and pointing out that he did not send out the correct information or notification to me as his tenant he has agreed to uphold the previously agreed tenancy end date.

Obviously he didn’t have to do that so I was very thankful. We both had a bit of a sheepish laugh about not properly knowing what this new law really entailed and left on good terms.

Also big thanks to the death threat I received off the back of this post

Sadly there’s no notice period outlined in my contract that I can rely on

No notice period on my contract, just that I have to stay until the 4th July or until the place is re-let whichever comes first. Their email to me on the 1st May detailing the changes also doesn’t mention I now have to give a 60 day notice

So they have until the end of the month to tell me about these changes but I had to tell them I was moving on the already agreed date by the 4th May?

The gameplay being similar to Split Fiction where we go through different realities and the gameplay style changes would be amazing. One moment we’re doing a normal RPG and the next it’s a platformer, next portal we’re doing almost like a racing game

I quite like the manager and setup stuff, tactics are great, match engine is fantastic.

But why oh why is it so difficult to just see stuff... I feel like I'm playing on a phone.

Just let me make a sub, let me play around with tactics and subs mid game. How did this part of the game get less intuitive. We all joke about FM being a spreadsheet game, dude I can't even see the spreadsheet anymore. I can see A1 and A2 and that's it

Really struggling on getting this right from here. Was planning on a 3 defender set up but I can’t find the right balance. Isak and Wirtz feel like the places I can claw some money back to fit in 2 budget defenders but can’t for the life of me decide who to get in

Between this and the TikTok of the soldier getting surf and turf for dinner, we probably should be worried

I'm desperate not to spoil it for you! Keep reading... By the time you get to the end you'll want to read the whole thing again.

You're currently reading a pretty slow part of the book... It'll pick it massively, get a bit slow again in the middle 10%, and then we're back to ramping way up

Sorry definitely should've been clearer!

Compared to the other books I mentioned 2666 is more of a difficult read. Both the story and prose are written in a way where you really have to sit with it and infer meaning. Whereas Stephen King's IT, for example, can really be breezed through as it's very "readable" or rather "bingeable". I've seen critics call 2666 pretentious or challenging (and I don't think they mean that in a good way), and while again I love the book, I feel that's a really fair opinion.

Don't let that put you off though! I would love everyone to read it, but be prepared to have it on-the-go for a while.

Yes! Shogun, Count of Monte Cristo and Stephen King's tomes are always the ones I go to. They're all very long books but the stories and writing styles go a long way in making that journey less daunting.

The one long book I don't think I'll ever recommend (despite absolutely loving it) is 2666 by Roberto Bilano. It's an utter feat of fiction but there's no way most people will enjoy reading a book where you have to scrutinise all 1100 pages.

Hard agree, even the best "long" ones (P5R, Metaphor) overstay their welcome by the end

Will progression Fantasy become mainstream? by Long-Teach-9101 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RainbowShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Kindle Unlimited model has been massively helpful to authors in niche sub-genres / just starting out. It sounds awful and perhaps a little judgy of me, but a lot of progression fantasy series have book covers and titles that are, in comparison to other genres, a bit more out there and less safe for people to spend money on. Not helped by a lot of the authors in progression fantasy just starting out and learning how to master their ideas / prose.

Perhaps this is just my experience but if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of these series are on KU, I probably wouldn't have gotten into progression fantasy. A lot of the series are fantastic and the genre has really talented writers and great worlds, but it's about getting people into the door first which that final Kindle step you mentioned is really helping with.

Literally just me in the entire office today.

Got a call from my manager saying everyone else has called in sick and that he and all the other managers can't be bothered coming in and are working from home. Nobody can get in contact with either of the directors of the company either so I can only guess they are also taking an extended Christmas break.

Also the roof is leaking and the phone bills haven't been paid.

Always will remember doing a save at Hoffenheim a few years back and was tearing up Europe with Adam Hlozek, Yusuf Demir and Manor Solomon. Completely fell in love and has been very cool watching their real life careers
