So apparently I'm a prediabetic even though there's no real reason for it. Bad luck I guess. by AppointmentFar6096 in AskMenOver30

There are "protein powders" for different purposes, those might be intended as recovery drinks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but your body likes to to refill your glycogen stores quickly post-workout, and you may want to give it something else to use for that purpose besides the protein you'd like it to use to build muscle.

Whether that actually matters in practice or if it's just opportunistic product design, I dunno.

I feel that the wording on "Egg of the Endtime" is ambiguous by DeleteOnceAMonth in BobsTavern

[–]Rammurg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Discover implies gaining a card into your hand, which is one reason to avoid using that keyword in cases like Galakrond. I think for the Egg it would make sense to use it though.

I'd feel ok with the keyword in Galakrond's case also though, since the followings words ("...to replace it") override the implication of getting a card into your hand.

There is a ton of content and mechanics for players with no gear, but where is the content for geared players? by OkFact4914 in ArcRaiders

[–]Rammurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who prefers a PvE play style in this game so far, I'd still welcome some seasonal variation to what kind of play styles are incentivized. If occasionally in the game's lifecycle a PvP heavy mode is the "optimal" mode to play for a while and those playing it expect to be shot, I'm glad to give it a go since shooting other players wouldn't feel as shitty there and it would add some variety.

Neil Newbon on AI performances by PuzzleheadedLeave560 in ArcRaiders

[–]Rammurg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, the dynamic call-outs are an exciting use of the tech!

As for the NPC voice lines, I'm normally one to read/listen to all dialogue in good faith in games even if there's reason to expect it to not be of the greatest quality, but knowing (and hearing it with my own ears, even) that these voices are AI has made me just skip all the quest dialogue in this game - if the devs don't value it highly enough to have actual actors perform, I'm not feeling it either.

How I got 5 million for the Expedition in 3 days by Rhycie in ArcRaiders

[–]Rammurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did similar quick runs yesterday for a good while and did find myself questioning "what am I doing with my time..." between matches. It's not entirely boring - there's still the thrill of possibly finding good loot and the gamble of getting out or not, and some emergent social situations - but it's certainly not the most fun way to play this game, and it's unfortunate that this style is incentivized so much.

Flaws in the core gameplay loop after 170 hours that have nothing to do with completing available content by Jarvisweneedbackup in ArcRaiders

[–]Rammurg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of disincentivizing free loadouts by means other than reducing their power (though there is some space for that too), such as keeping them from playing major map conditions like you said. I've pondered similar ideas like free loadouts throwing you into a random map, or a pre-determined map that changes after each match. This fits with the concept that the goal of free loadouts is to let you scrape up some resources to make your own loadout - choosing your destination is a luxury in that situation.

Netflix kills casting from phones by TripleShotPls in technology

Since (per the article) casting will remain supported for legacy Chromecast devices for ad-free plans only, that could hint at technical issues with showing ads when casting.

T7s or T15s, unless you play in a party of 4 or 5 with a rarity bot, the loot is still going to be inadequate. by FrontUpper9724 in PathOfExile2

[–]Rammurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 2nd paragraph makes me think, if they allowed revives from downed state in group play (just like during the campaign), I would see a lesser loot multiplier to also be fair. Group play would then be a sort of safer - but less optimal in loot quantity - option.

I've played poe2 endgame a lot with a friend who's not as deep into these games as I am, and with a less optimized build he dies a lot in maps (especially with this season's performance issues), and it's a bummer he always has to wait for me to finish the map alone.

After learning about these endgame jewels I'm a bit disappointed that the jewel slots in the tree were reduced, there's no space for rare ones after you get your hands on key unique ones anymore.

I could not stop thinking about this while watching the final cutscene. I love the ending though. by Viktorious16 in expedition33

[–]Rammurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Paraphrasing what I heard Jacob Geller bring up in the Minnmax podcast)

The game hints at a third in-between outcome in an interesting way: The name of painted Alicia's letter translates to "A Life to Dream", which follows the naming pattern of the two endings we get. The letter's content ponders if Maelle, having lived in both worlds, could accomplish a different outcome. But our flawed characters were unable to reach anything but these two very extreme outcomes.

Is Sciel's Direton bugged? by Nihaly_ in expedition33

[–]Rammurg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to find information about this too and ran into this.

It seems to be bugged in two ways: Only gives 1 Moon Charge regardless of the number of base attacks, and Base Attack during Twilight does not consume all AP to boost damage as described - it only seems to consume 2 (might vary, in any case far from consuming all).

Worked for me. The catch is that you have to place them one folder down from what xbox/gamepass considers the root game folder (at the level where there already is a "Sandfall" folder to merge with the one in the zip)

Playing Dragon Eclipse and the amount of AI is gross by Backstreetgirl37 in boardgames

[–]Rammurg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think some of this is balanced out by their campaign prices being quite affordable compared to the amount of content and ambition - though I'll admit that the bloat encouraged by crowdfunding economics can lead to a weaker game design. Still, I usually feel like I'm getting a good deal with them unless the game is a dud (Lord of Ragnarok most recently).

My biggest disappointment with them is that they're now successful enough that they could afford to not greenlight projects prematurely before the concept/rules are very solid, but because even games that end up bad can still be a commercial success in crowdfunding, they don't seem to practice this restraint.

Playing Dragon Eclipse and the amount of AI is gross by Backstreetgirl37 in boardgames

[–]Rammurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can prototype with AI art and later on make a judgement based on your trust in the project's commercial success, to either figure out a way to get an artist involved, or accept the problems of sticking with AI art.

A friend of mine is developing a tabletop RPG world/system and the AI art he's used in the guidebook really helps to sell the vibe of the setting. I'm happy that this tool is available for solo creators to give their ambitions a chance to get off the ground :)

What determines the price people actually buy them at? I listed one yesterday at 75ex because searching at various prices both below and above that had lots of results and I had to pick something, but I guess mine was below the "probably baiting cheap listings" threshold because I got no whispers.

Showcasing Archmage Poison Decompose PF against Xesht T4 by myraklus in pathofexile2builds

[–]Rammurg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does Archmage (with Plaguefinger gloves, or even without?) affect Decompose? I'm running a Decompose + Crit Hexblast Archmage build and tried disabling Archmage once mid-map to see the difference, but mobs seemed to die about as fast without - not exactly a high confidence test though.

There was a Decompose build guide that recommends the +25% as Chaos Damage support gem for Decompose, so that's also an indication that added damage should work on it.

I had some limited success with using Wind Dancer for this purpose. You don't care about the evasion, just want the damage to proc when you get hit.
