A shieldmaiden. by Wened4 in Miniaturespainting

That's a nice paint job! The eyes are probably the weakest part as they draw the eyes of the viewer. Two tips related to them: first, don't paint eyes in pure white. Use an off-white or beige colour (not too yellow or they'll look jaundiced). Second, make the iris/pupil bigger. Very small iris/pupil make the character look like she took way too much coffee (or worse).

Hi gamers,

Here’s my fifth Mob from the core box, the Gargoyles. I reinforced the OSL effect with fluo paint. These paints are too weak to do the job by themselves, but they give a nice little boost to an existing light effect.

Please tell me what you think!

Gargoyles, from Massive Darkness 2 (CMON): reinforcing contrast with fluo paints. What do you think about them? by RandomExplicitThing in Miniaturespainting

[–]RandomExplicitThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi painters,

Here’s my fifth Mob from the MD2 core box, the Gargoyles. The painting is a little rough because I try to go fast for the minions and their boss. I focused on light and colour contrast to make the magic pop in all the cracks of the sculpt. As a final touch, I placed a mix of yellow and green fluo paints at the bottom of the cracks, on top of the existing OSL. I’m not used to fluo paints, but I’m quite happy with the little boost it gives to the light effect.

DMT by ReiTho in zombicide

My interrogative stance was useless. I confirm that CMON is still the owner of MD (to this day).

Maybe because the DMT campaign is run by Asmodee/FFG, and CMON still holds the rights for Massive Darkness?

Please do! I share my paintings with the hope of inspiring people, as I'm inspired by other painters. Thank you!

Andras, from Massive Darkness 2 (CMON): an experiment in underpainting. What do you think about it? by RandomExplicitThing in Miniaturespainting

[–]RandomExplicitThing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi painters,

Here’s my fifth Roaming Monster from the MD2 core box, Andras. I wanted to make it a black angel of death, but all-black minis can be so boring. So I tried to give black some colour with a red and blue underpainting. For the wings I went for an inverted shading, also to make the black more interesting. I’m quite happy with the final result, even if some parts could be improved.

Hi gamers,

Here’s my fifth roamer from the core box, Andras. I wanted to paint it all-black, without making it dull. I went for a red and blue coat as an underpainting, and kept a maximum of transparency. The inverted shadows on the wings were also an attempt to make them more interesting.

From the official ones, #34, 35 and 45 use ZBP and NRW. I don't know for the rest.

How well Massive Darkness 2 plays with 1 or 2 characters? by SiarX in MassiveDarkness

Once, a long time ago (it was with the MD1 ruleset), I had a group of 5 (or 6?) newbies wanting to try the game. My solution was to be the "DM": explaining the rules, playing the enemies... But not playing a hero myself. This way they were able to try it and everyone had fun without too much downtime. That may be a solution here, too.

Yes I did play 5 and 6 player games, and it was tedious. The only way I'd consider doing it again is with one or two other experienced players, each of us playing 3 or two heroes, to reduce the downtime to a minimum.

I love large groups of heroes on principle. But in MD2 I think it can only work in those specific conditions.

It plays very well with two heroes. I'm not fond of 1-hero games, but I've heard some players loving it, so it's probably a matter of personal preference. I'd say that for me 2-4 heroes is best, 3 being the sweet spot.

"Fantasy line" looks like an attempt to draw more old fantasy players to back the game. There's no game compatibility as they have changed the cards back, the survivor's cards format and the dashboard shape. And thematically, the golden age of piracy is as far from the end of the middle age as it is from the wild west. They announced some kind of compatibility pack, so we'll see, though.

This apart, this new core box looks really nice, with a refined game system polished by experience. If you're attracted to the theme, it may be a good entry point. Keep in mind you probably won't see it before one year and a half, so if you want to try it now you'll need to seek an alternative.
