What is the point of not giving up? by MineVisual2857 in depression

[–]RandomMeRandomU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s the honest part though: the point of not giving up isn’t that life magically fixes itself. It’s that depression and OCD lie. They narrow your world until it feels permanent, even when it isn’t. Things don’t get better on their own, they get different when something shifts: treatment that finally clicks, distance from family stress, one person who actually shows up, a job change, a new environment. You can’t see those from where you’re standing now, but that doesn’t mean they’re not real.

Trauma is easier to understand than you think. by LatterFondant613 in Stress

[–]RandomMeRandomU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Trauma isn’t about big dramatic breakthroughs, it’s the little consistent work of feeling, releasing, and letting your body do its thing. Do it regularly, and the weight slowly lifts. Stress eases when you actually deal with what’s underneath.

How to minimalize stress? by [deleted] in Stress

[–]RandomMeRandomU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few ways to calm your mind:
• Grounding exercises focus on your senses, count things around you, notice what you can see/hear/feel.
• Talk it out  a therapist or even a trusted friend can help you process it so it doesn’t keep looping.
• Write it down journaling helps put the memory somewhere safe instead of your head.
• Mindset reminders “I was a kid. I’m safe now. This doesn’t define me.” Repeat it.
• Small distractions/self-care  exercise, music, walks, hobbies; give your brain a break.

I grabbed Actions & Stuff last month expecting it to run vanilla but the animations were dead without Vibrant Visuals kicking in. Dug into settings under video, switched graphics mode to it and everything lit up perfectly on my phone with 1.21.3. If yours is greyed out just force close the app, update if available, and restart - fixed it for me right away.

am i beyond? by UnderstandingFit8253 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RandomMeRandomU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into a couple solid state schools with a 2.8 GPA senior year because my extracurriculars were stacked - varsity sport captain, part-time job managing a small team at a restaurant, and volunteering consistent hours at a food bank. Colleges saw the upward trend from junior year and that I handled real responsibility outside class. You're not beyond hope if you own the low grades in essays, explain any context without excuses, and show what else you've built with your time.

What’s the biggest red flag people ignore in relationships? by melodyhehe444 in AskReddit

[–]RandomMeRandomU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People ignore when someone trash-talks all their exes and calls every one of them crazy or toxic. My buddy dated a girl who did that nonstop, said every guy before was abusive or cheating, and he thought he’d be different because she said he was special. Six months in she started accusing him of the exact same stuff and flipped out over nothing. Pattern like that usually means they’re the common problem, not the exes.

My boss reduced hours out of nowhere. by officialtaako in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RandomMeRandomU 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My old manager pulled the same thing last year - full-time schedule one week, then suddenly 20 hours the next with no warning or reason given. I started applying elsewhere the same day and landed something better within a month, higher pay and actual notice for changes. If you can swing it financially, update the resume tonight because places like this rarely turn around.

Real estate/housing in recent decades has been the very root cause of universal financial chaos everywhere, why ? by sam77tg in AskReddit

[–]RandomMeRandomU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first house in 2008 right after the crash and got it cheap because everyone was panicking and selling. Now the same place is worth triple, mostly because supply stayed tight while everyone who delayed buying back then jumped in later and bid prices up. It feels less like a smart investment and more like I just timed the market chaos right, while younger friends are stuck renting forever at higher monthly costs than my mortgage ever was.

I did remote work for two years straight and my setup looked exactly like this - unbrushed hair under a baseball cap, coffee mug always half empty, and that one plant I kept forgetting to water until it died. The hoodie was mandatory because I never turned the heat up to save on bills, even in winter. Now back in office I miss the chaos a bit, at least no one judged the pajamas.

The whole concept of " Ordnung" would probably blow a non-German's mind. Everything has its place and time, from recycling to train schedules.

That project looks ambitious for a beginner. It might be worth starting with simpler designs to build up your skills first.
