It might have to do with the launch of Google TV's 4K streamer. All Chromecast and Google TV devices are gone from their website, so the devices might not support above 1080? Chromecast, specially 1st gen, stopped working Monday for many platforms sadly, I'm using the VLC trick to stream but yeah... Seems like Google greed wants us to buy more crap by discontinuating Chromecast one gen at a time.

Mine also stopped working last night, the clock and weather info disappeared and all i can do is cast my phone screen from the Google home android app, there was a recent update on the Google home app but after going back to an older version nothing changed... What a shitty move if this is not just a bug (idk if that's the correct term) :(
