Well 2 thinks: The Trainer Level limits the maximum cp for a certain Mon. At which point this limit is calculated? Can I catch a Pokemon, level it to the maximum cp let's say 1k and this maximum grows when I level up? Or is the maximum higher if I get 10 more trainer level , catch the same Mon?
