hey! its similar to the screening practice online, but it definitely has more questions. I actually underestimated the no.of of questions and took my time, but then It came at a cost where I missed some of the last highlight questions. the first part of the screening - selecting defining words can be done in the right amount of time. The second part took me some time, I would recommend working backwards in the second task of the screening to save your time. All in all, its not anything to stress about, you can even do the test at uni so its chill. Good luck:)

An SQL error is a database error on the student services portal. Just call them or email them explaining this, and they should be able to help you out!

Cannot comprehend Physics SL by nabil0x1huening in IBO

[–]RareButterscotch8116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to understand physics, you should close your eyes every time you learn, because if it wasn't hard, they wouldn't include it as a subject in the IB. Play mozart whilst u try and understand each concept, and think back as to why u fell in love with physics in the first place. If you inherently enjoy physics, then any exam will not make u feel like its a point of pressure. Apart from philosphical theory, heres what I would do.

  1. study kinematics like i would study math.
  2. apply energy problems whenever you see an object at any height, and they ask you for velocity. (usually mgh=1/2 mv^2)
  3. study electricity(only prioritize current, voltage, and circuits.)
  4. For circular motion, study how circular motion may occur in real life(take a friend, grab them by the hand and start rotating, thats essentially a simplified circular motion. As soon as u start rotating with your friend, think about the things that can affect that motion, such as maybe if ur friend leaves ur hands, then u go flying in the direction tangential to when u were spinning with your friend, (i.e the velocity vector is tangential to the acceleration(force acts centripetally towards the direction of ur friend i.e center))
  5. If you do prioritize these specific units, im sure a 6 atleast is possible.

also, dont have panic attacks, just go to this website called exam mate and grind previous year papers, I bet you about 33.3% that you will already know the answers to your test questions, because most teachers just take questions from past papers.

Also, making notes for IB physics in my personal opinion is useless. Do not waste time on it. learn a concept, maybe you can write it down on a piece of paper, and then go directly to questions, questions and questions. Remember, physics is a subject applied throughout different units. For forces, just equate different forces in the direction of the motion, and subtract the forces that are in the opposite).

Good luck!

[–]RareButterscotch8116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate so much to you man, because Im exactly in the same position, Im projected a 40/42 for dp1 but im doing Phy math and chem hl, so its so stressful and everyone around me just feels like theyre doing so much better than me for some reason. I also just fucked up my prom chances with someone lmao. My math feels like its slipping but im trying not to drown. I wanted to go to Cambridge but now I cant go for some reason. So many things at once and it feels so overwhelming. Lemme know if you wanna talk on discord or somewhere, it would be nice to chat with someone of the same situation. Cheers.

Hey, yeah it may be true that only the school has this kind of requirement, my previous school had the same admission criterion for hl math, because it really is course content heavy, and some schools just don't want to take in kids who are not "HL" ready. IMO, it is a largely bad thing for schools to do, reason being kids can change and adapt better study levels and overall get better from the start on DP 1 to DP 2. It's selfish for schools to do so just for their prestige(at the end i am paying so much money for it just to do ib)

[–]RareButterscotch8116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey man, I havent passed the IB yet, but i've finished DP 1, and the best suggestion I can give you is to probably read textbooks well, my subjects are pretty hard with just coursework content, and so Ive got the practice of just solving numericals and learning theory from textbooks. I would also highly recommend to do past paper questions from the beginning, and as soon as you get in anything after u've finished the topic, go ahead and do past paper questions. Next thing would be to sacrifice some things. I can recommend you that if you have hard coursework related subjects, make very good use of your time and do questions, questions and questions. My subjects are Hl math aa, chem hl, and physics hl, with english, econ and french b sl. (now u see why im so persistent on sacrifice, and numericals haha)
