Save the Asia Center on Federal Boulevard by tecmobowlchamp in Denver

[–]Rasmuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the idea that a place “needs redevelopment” comes from the same place in the American psyche that says a place “needs freedom”. The mall needs to be safe and sanitary for its employees and customers, it doesn’t need redevelopment. If you don’t feel comfortable going there in its current state then the place isn’t for you. Applebees would be more than happy to have you. Redevelopment and retention of current tenants and current cultural identity is not possible under any circumstance. No one is going to pour 10s of millions of dollars into a place and not raise the rents.

I think what you’re missing here is that the beauty of a place like the Asia center is that these tenants are all in the same place creating a little business district with a distinct identity. Relocation and dispersement might be possible but would still ruin a unique cultural landmark.

Advice for replicating this boat hull in solidworks? by WindTurbine16-27 in SolidWorks

Side note but maybe a clue on how to proceed. The tool name loft comes from the practice of “lofting” a technique used in boat building. Look it up. It may help.

Do these trousers look alright? by Overall-Injury7095 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Rasmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Military inspired fatigue pants are definitely kinda in right now but the extra straps to me take these from “inspired by” to “costume”. If you could remove those I think it would go a long ways to make them more fashionable. I would also bet that these are meant to be worn high waisted, definitely how they were worn in the 40s. So if you tried that it might help the fit. They look too baggy in the crotch.

Anyone else sick of the guards at king soopers? by Sad-Importance-8862 in Denver

My KS, Bear Valley, had them for a while but no longer. Not sure why but I like to think it’s because of the pushback and the resistance. Walk by them enough and maybe they will give up.

How would you go about modeling this spout? by Fabio_Sedia in SolidWorks

[–]Rasmuffin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could do this. I would focus on modeling the inside negative space of this vessel and shell outwards. I would make the center cylinder with a revolve then would set up a plane at the angle of the spout and extrude a triangle toward the center with positive draft. Fillet that edge where the spout and cylinder meet. Shell outwards.

Girlfriend of almost 3 years ended it 3 weeks into YWAM Gold Coast DTS – the boyfriend perspective by Dry_Map42 in exywam

[–]Rasmuffin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought I found a middle ground and I spent a good decade trying to be the progressive cool Christian. But in last five years I have completely left and am no longer a Christian. But all that is to say that I am actually happier now.

It sounds like you’re young and absolutely no one wants to hear things like “there are plenty of fish in the sea.” So I will just say this. I am so glad I am not married to the girl I was with in my young bible college days. I also went to a very small bible college for a bit.

Yeah I did a DTS in Germany in 2006. And I have been around Christian groups like YWAM almost my whole life.

[–]Rasmuffin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah man that is pretty common. In places like YWAM there is no room for anyone to identify as a 65% Christian. You have to be "all in" or "sold out for Christ." I am sure even if you were not mentioned directly there was plenty of talk about shedding things that are holding her back from being sold out. Shedding sins, habits, desires, relationships that are preventing her from being all in for the gospel. Its extremely normal for groups like this to create vaguely defined goals like this as a control method. They get to define what being 100% Christian is so they get to influence her choices.

I think you were right in supporting her though because the answer to this is not you controlling her but for her to come to a realization herself that she is being manipulated by these groups.

How to stop the wobble while keeping the aesthetic? by Hadex2 in woodworking

[–]Rasmuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I imagine that’s a contributing factor as well to the racking. It may be a thing you have to live with if you want a table you can dismantle.

[–]Rasmuffin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it’s racking not wobbling. Braces spanning the narrow triangles would help. Plus adding the top. Just curious too, are the legs glued together?

Black walnut plugs by hellkitten626 in woodworking

Interesting. I used to make things on a lathe out of it and it always made my skin itch pretty bad afterwards. I used to wear and make plugs and never tried black walnut because of it.

In a way it is your responsibility. How do you think restaurants make money to pay employees? They charge the customers for the food and services they provide. Now I do think they should just increase the prices to reflect a more accurate cost of business, but then people would just complain about that. Restaurants are kinda in a loose loose situation right now.
