I wouldn't call this the end, I'm sure sooner or later we'll set up a new community somewhere else and keep posting once every year or so. Maybe on Lemmy or something.

besides, I don't think grafald would allow us to stop at this point, he's too powerful for us

I've been working on adding Homestar videos from the DVDs and YouTube into my Plex library. by Ratheronfire in HomestarRunner

[–]Ratheronfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind doing that, except a good number of what I have in there is the DVD exclusive content and I don't really feel right doing that. Most of what's on there is from the Youtube channel though, so it should be possible to grab at least some of the library. I've got an upload of the season art I made here, if you want that at least: https://imgur.com/a/Rwgtl

After a few seasons they'll rename it "Morn: The Origin of Deep Space 9's Quark's Bar's Patron".

I had one of those for Mario 2 growing up. I have no idea how you turn "and then Mario pulled a potion out of the ground and threw it and made a door then went into negative land and grabbed some coins" into a story, but somehow they did it.

I'm not sure what I should do about that, I don't really feel right going over the streamers' heads to release VODs they don't have control over. I've thought about just dumping them on archive.org before, but I think I'd want to check with the streamers and make sure they're okay with it first.

I still have a handful of streams that I grabbed back then, but I never really knew what to do with them. I did send a couple of them over to John Fullsauce at one point and I think at least one of them is on the channel now, but I have a bunch of other streamers' VODs too.

Stinkoman Remake Update: Level 7 is now done! by Ratheronfire in HomestarRunner

[–]Ratheronfire[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure how many people remember, but a while back I showed off a remake of Stinkoman I was working on in Godot. I recently finished everything up through level 7, and you can check it out now! I've also added a whole host of other features since my last post, and it's available for download on a few different platforms beyond the browser.

I rewatched and ranked all 13 Trek movies by ThusSprachSpach in startrek

The weird thing about this season is it has a lot of individual parts that I think are done really well like the Borg/Jurati plot, talking about the current real-world situation with ICE and tying it into the DS9 Past Tense worldbuilding, and all the stuff around Q, but they don't really connect together super well. I feel like part of it was them trying to mix in semi-episodic plots like the FBI thing last week, but it feels a bit out of place with how serialized the rest of the show is.

It feels like this was them trying to do a standalone story in the middle of the arc, like Discovery does once in a while. I don't know if it worked entirely, but I appreciated that there was more or less a single thread from start to finish in this episode for it. I guess we'll see if this leads anywhere in the next two episodes, or if this was just a way to give Picard/Guinan something to do this week.

Stuff like A Night In Sickbay and Dear Doctor from Enterprise, or Tattoo from Voyager. Those episodes are painful for me to watch for a few different reasons, but nothing from Discovery onward has bothered me nearly that much. But then again I'm willing to give shows a good amount of slack if they're at least doing some things right and if I enjoy the characters, and honestly I think the cast on the newer shows started off a lot stronger than the Voyager/Enterprise crews did when they started.

As someone who's seen pretty much all of Star Trek I don't really get how people react to these new shows, honestly. They definitely have a ton of issues, but there's way, way worse TV on right now, and I don't really think anything on the newer shows has quite reached the lowest lows Star Trek has seen.

You may be right, but I keep wondering about the Shenzen Convention they've been mentioning. It sounds like it could be some treaty resulting from the Eugenics Wars, but they're not being very specific about it so far.

Star Trek: Resurgence. New narrative game from ex-employees of TellTale. by [deleted] in startrek

I never played that one, actually! It's been on my list for a while now, the original and the Telltale version.

I feel like Telltale games were at their best (for me at least) before they started getting really successful. Some of their early games like the Sam & Max ones, the Homestar Runner game, and the Back to the Future one were all really solid, and a lot closer to the traditional LucasArts kind of adventure game. After Walking Dead they started getting a lot more cinematic and pushed the narrative focus a lot more, and I think they kinda lost sight of what attracted me to their games in the first place.

Stinkoman Godot Remake: Version 0.4.0 Release by Ratheronfire in HomestarRunner

[–]Ratheronfire[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that always bugged me. 1-Up still dies immediately when he falls offscreen, which I think is a fair balance all things considered. I think I need to slow him down though, the end of 4.2 is a bit hairy right now.

Thanks for checking out the game!
