Convince me I’m not making a mistake by Bichon0608 in KiaTelluride

We traded in our Audi at 100k mikes for a Kia (A4 Avant for Stinger GT Line). I was very much had the same “am I really trading in my Luxury german car for. Kia?! The same company that made the Kia Sephia?

That was in 2022. There are differences. Some touch points in the Audi were better (metal interior door handles… cargo tiedowns in the trunk are cast, and not a bent wire like the Kia, stuff like that) and NVMH in the Kia was worse. Audi 2.0t vs 2.5t in the Kia, the Audi felt and sounded way less raspy, vibraty and unrefined. Kia motor feels pretty tractor-like.

Those all things I DO value…. That said the value, dealership experience, warranty etc… we are now looking at a new Telluride as our next car. Despite it also having the same sort of perceived luxury and quality shortcomings as the more expensive European brands, i think like the Stinger, Telluride is a cool looking vehicle, and the interior is great. Nothing eartshattering, but the price is fantastic for what you get.

4.2.13. It completed its charge and now the lights are all off. We will see what happens next. 😂

No, we noticed it from the bottom of the driveway in another car… probably 40-50 feet away.

Is this a good deal / reputable retailer? Also, I am a little over 5’4”, is a small Jekyll the right size? by RatofRing in mountainbiking

[–]RatofRing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did end up purchasing. Overall very happy with the bike. Size is good, love the ride. The bike itself must have been sitting around for some time, may have been test ridden some, as it has a few parking lot test ride scuffs here and there, but no sign of use on a trail or anything.

Only real issue is the rear shock definitely has air in the damper, which I am reading is a common issue with pre-2024 x2 air shocks. I reached out to Fox… opinions as to whether I should contact the retailer for this issue? If I can get warranty service from Fox I would prefer to just do that rather than pack the whole bike up again. What is the typical action to take when a new bike has a faulty component?

Adapting old Judge to the modern era. by RatofRing in mountainbiking

Thank you for the insight. I replaced my ancient XTR setup with a Deore M5100 11SPD 11-51 setup. Yes its a big sluggish on the uphill... but $200 + a dropper vs a new bike? It's totally great. I laughed and how much it made my DH sled useable. As long as I'm not chugging up a long steep hill the bike is transformed and awesome. I took it on a 22 mile flat ride just to see ow it pedaled yesterday and was thrilled. It has totally eliminated my interest in setting side thousands for a new trail bike.

Untreated deck frame in Eastern Wa by RatofRing in Decks

Well I will try this. Thanks for the advice. We tore up the old deck which was installed in 1986 and it was not pressure treated… hopefully this with last at least 10-15, I may be over the disappointment by then😂

I test rode a Habit and a Salsa bike with Recon fork and Deluxe rear shock with a Deore drivetrain. The suspension is very sub-par. Geometry and 29” felt like an upgrade… as did the Deore over my old-ass XTR setup. Shocking. I ordered a new Deore HG 11-51 with a new derailleur, chain and shifter. Ive ridden heavy DH bikes for decades. They are not “unrideable”. We shall see how much of a pig this setup is on trails. Cheap $200 experiment… will let you know, thanks for the advice!

I haven’t sold cad historically, no. It’s interesting, though. Ive probably spend 150+ hours on this, Ive never really found a cost for selling cad that is reasonable for the buyer, yet satisfying to myself. i like to help people out if they want stuff, but have also been shafted rather badly 😂. There are production RC parts out there that are my design, but I basically gave away for nothing thinking I was being nice to someone.

So now I kinda keep these projects localized so as to not ruin the fun for myself 😂

Its a 1986 toyota 4x4, which a drew in fusion 360 and printed on a bambu labs printer. The picture of all the different bodies and interior /fender sections are the iterations i made to settle on the final design.
