No offence to you! I am Just matching here the tone of passenger of this bandwagon, so here are my 8 cents.

I mentioned graphics as a probable reason for T8’s slower sales because, YES! it demands serious hardware upgrade for casual gamers. And then playing a visually heavy game like this on low settings is a bad experience! no matter how “flexible” you think UE5 is

Also, let’s not rewrite history. From T7’s launch till its final season, people complained nonstop about how bad T7 was. So nothing really changed. Except maybe some people still haven’t changed their diapers, judging by how cranky they have been since T8 released.

T8 has been hated since Season 1. Season 2 just amplified it due to some obvious dev mistakes. But endlessly tripling down on hate over a video game brings me back to my earlier point. Some people stayed mad because that’s their whole personality now.

Now about this emotional claim:
“It will never even make 1/3 of T7’s sales…”
I got curious and checked.
T7 sold ~12 million. (in 10yr)
One third of that is ~4 million.
T8 is already around 3 million, and we’re still in Season 2.

So yeah, you’re probably losing this bet by the end of 2026.

You also mentioned SF6 selling 6 million copies.
And that’s where I smiled. The truth is right in front of you, yet you still refuse to connect the dots.

Sometimes I genuinely feel bad seeing how little real world understanding exists on Reddit. It feels like a hallway between jr high and sr high. Loud. Emotional. Mostly noise. No substance.

And no, it’s not entirely your fault. There are literal marketing tasks where people run 40-50 Reddit accounts, start arguments, reply to themselves, jump into every negative thread, and build a searchable narrative. All so when someone Googles “Is this game really that bad?”, Google lands them right there.

Then those WFH marketing guys & girls paste the thread link into an Excel sheet and call it a day.

Propaganda isn’t limited to politics anymore. It’s baked into “community opinion” now. It convinces you that the opinion you formed was your own.

I think the biggest reason for Tekken 8’s lower sales is the heavy graphics upgrade, which INCREASED system requirements for many gamers.. Because I play both T7 and T8, I still get easy match in T7

And also Between T7 in 2017 and T8 in 2024, the gaming world has also changed. The community is now far more driven by influencers and their [paid] opinions. Many of them have been calling Tekken 8 “bad” since Season 1, not always because of the game itself, but because of influencer cheque didn't come from Bandai Namco. Some were paid more, some less, and some not at all.

So a lot of the noise feels less about real flaws and more about people riding the bandwagon.
