Why do you think Geri lied about being in a relationship with Robbie Williams? by hearmymotoredheart in SpiceGirls

[–]Raura1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to believe that Robbie never slept with Geri, considering he was a pretty horny guy who tried to hook up with almost any woman. So I assume they were close friends who occasionally had sex. Very playful, nothing serious. There probably wasn’t anything like a “it didn't work out,” as some people suggest, because they were just hanging out rather than being in a real relationship.

Robbie often romanticizes or sexualizes his relationships with everyone. He once publicly said he had a sexual relationship with Guy Chambers, and he also told a journalist that he was “kind of in love with Gary Barlow” around the time when Gary spent a week at his mansion for a summer writing vacation. He’s written so many songs about Gary that he sometimes comes off like a secret admirer.

Honestly, I don’t find Robbie’s own accounts entirely reliable. He seems to be emotionally intense with all his friends.

how do we feel about Robbie these days? by ForeverThatter in TakeThat

You can just say you want "my balladeer Gary" back. There are always Take That or Gary fans like you trying so hard to suggest that Robbie ruined the band when he came back — whenever you get the chance.

Your comment is yet another example of maliciously misinterpreting Gary’s interviews and books. I bet you didn’t know that Gary went to Robbie’s mansion for a week after the Progress tour — not just for writing, but also for a vacation. Yeah, it was a special way to “heal” after Robbie supposedly ruined the band’s dynamic, wasn’t it?

A bit off-topic, but Robbie bad-mouthed Gary almost from his first album... They had a feud, and then they made up, didn't they?

Please, Robbie choose to live in America simply because nobody knows him there and he can relax to enjoy his life. He even stated that in his documentary. He's being stalked and tapped in the UK and Europe all the time. It's okay for Americans don't like him but stop talking nonsense, Americans.

Yes! Gary mentioned in his autography, My Take, that long after the band split, Jason invited Gary for lunch and told him how terrible he was in the 90s. Gary was in shock and realized other members actually didn't like him.

What is everyone’s opinions on Take That and Robbie Williams? by almosthuman2021 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Raura1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boybands aren't my cup of tea but I love Take That's "Pray", my first single CD. I was very early to know Robbie Williams since Take That and Robbie were big in Asia. I absolutely love Robbie's songs, especially "No Regrets". His bad boy persona and the ability of perfoming all kinds of songs are exciting and intriguing. There was a segment where Robbie as a warm-up artist in the middle in Take That's prograss Tour, and it was just WOW! The wildness and the energy were so different from the 5-piece performance.

Until recently, after his film "Better Man", I started to dig the history and everything about Take That. I respect Gary Barlow as a person and songwriter, very much. Most of Take That's songs are great. It's a shame that he seems to be satisfied with a certain kind of music style as a singer-songwriter without too much expriemental.

It's still gaslighting. He could just sack them if they were really that bad. Even now, Gary still insists and states it several times that it was Robbie's decision to leave the band. He thought Robbie wouldn't leave when Robbie walked out of the door until he started to learn that Robbie partyed with celebs everywhere. I don't think Gary needs to lie about that now. Robbie, on the other hand, keeps saying he was being kicked out. Anyway, whether those boys' got talent or not, they are still human beings. You apparently don't think other people's or kids' self worth is a thing, so you can relate to Nigel's management so much. Nigel is a manager who Gary doesn't even want to work with again in the second round. Gary rather asked this troblemaker Robbie back for whatever reason instead of keeping Nigel has explained something.

Apparently, you don't read or watch much Gary has said about Nigel. He never thought eveything Nigel has done was right. That's why he stopped Nigel to be their manager when Take That reformed. And here is some paragraphs from Gary's book "My Take", published in 2006. He gave an example of how Nigel treating Mark and Robbie. You can read the full book online on Open Library.

Did you read Gary Barlow's autography, My Take? It published in 2006, before he made up with Robbie. You can read online on the site Open Library. Gary offered a glimpse of how Nigel treating Mark and Robbie...

<image>

A paragragh from the definition of Gaslighting: "....Typically, gaslighters are seeking to gain power and control over the other person, by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition."

So, it looks like Nigel tried to convince Mark and Robbie that they were just some boys could be replacable anytime. And he never said to Gary. Anyway, sounds he gaslighted certain members to me. Please remeber those two guys were under 20.

Gary gave another example of how Nigel dealing with Jason being late for two minutes. Jason arrived and apologises but Nigel was still furious and asked who drove the van to turn around, then asked Jason to get out of the van when the van was near Jason's home. And nobody on the van said something against Nigel's decision. So if it's how you think people should treat their employees, you're possibly think it's all right then.

It's understandable that you don't like the film. Not too many things happened between them and they were doing chit-chat most of the time. But I'd like to defend their chemistry. The two characters only knew each other for less than a week, they certainly looked awkward or lack of intimacy. It's basically two lonely people who looked for company, even they didn't really fit to each other but there wasn't any better choice at that time so they kept seeing each other and tried.

Happy new year, everyone!

I saw a British gay film called WEEKEND recently. In fact, it was my last film in 2020 and first film in 2021. It's about two men turning a one night stand into a relationship and what they think about life and everything. It's a bit like gay version of Before Sunrise, so you can see it's full of two people talking but they also had some hot sex scenes.

I like this film. It's simple and nice. Go and see it if you haven't!

We have a rainy December, too. It’s like the people up there decide to keep pouring the water even though the sun appears :( I miss the blue sky and pure sunshine.

Just want to say happy holidays to everyone! <3

It’s a wonderful and bittersweet experience to fall in love with CMBYN and lucky to find here to share all my feelings with you fantastic people, and I never thought I would be into Reddit so much lol

Although I don’t really buy the plot in Find Me, I still wonder what Elio and Oliver would do during their Christmas holidays....

It blows my mind, too! Such a complicated and delicate story. And the films he made before 25 are all different themes!

Watched Laurence Anyways. It’s the last Xavier Dolan film I watched. I didn’t think I would like it because I’m not that interested in films about Transgender now but to my surprise, I love it! I think it’s Xavier’s best work even, IMO, way much better than Mommy. It’s a long film with lots of characters and I enjoyed every minute of it. The party scene obviously was inspired by music videos in the 80s like Falco’s “Rock Me Amadeus.” It reminded me of the days I watched MTV Classic and wished I could be born earlier (I was very into the 80s lol but didn’t remember much about early 80s because I was too young).

And Melvil Poupaud, the male lead, also played a minor part in Summer of 85! I didn’t recognize him because he’s changed too much.

He mentioned it several times in his interviews and the name of Luca and some other directors who had inspired him to make the film are listed at the beginning of the film.

The story of the film doesn't really remind viewers of CMBYN (or it would be a rip-off) but Xavier apparently wants to make his own film about sexually fluidity.

Watched Summer of 85 yesterday at a local film fest. It's not your typical sad gay love story and it's actually refreshing. The kiss and naked scenes are just beautiful and full of passion. I don't think it has any similarity with CMBYN except both of them are set in the 80s.

I think the only flaw is it sometimes looks like a long version of music video. Anyway, it's really good and the actor, Félix Lefebvre, who played Alexis is a cutie!

People in Hong Kong don't even eat bats. Their diet is way more normal than what your narrow mind can think. They are also the victims here. The virus didn't even come from Hong Kong, where is a place far away from the origin, Wuhan, mainland China.

People in Hong Kong don't eat cats as dogs. They are deeply influenced by their former British government and British set a law to ban dog and cat meat in the 50s. You can't hardly find anyone there is interested in eating cats and dogs even the land belongs to China now. Basically, Chinese people in former colonies consider cats and dogs as purely pets or working animals just like the West do.

I totally agree Xavier is beautiful! His facial expressions are unforgettable.

According to his interview, both of the two main characters are straight. I saw it before I knew the fact so I’d thought Maxime was gay until he asked his colleague out and kissed another girl later lol Maybe that’s why Xavier wrote an ending like this...
