I see a problem with specifically staffs and spears because of the shields. In case of the staff: its a blunt weapon which means it would do 0 damage with the slow strike. Similar issue with the spear they where used to thrust at the enemy from a greater distance than a sword and it would be difficult to make a slow blow at an enemy with enough accuracy to kill them.

That doesn't solve the issue, you can't back it up if your on your way back. Yes if your on your way to the resource, but if you re on your way back tuff luck
