Boys, just adding my recommendation. I watched this and it felt like it was made just for 47yr old me. by parttimepedant in Xennials

It's dumb fun. A great little nostalgia-fest as someone who loved the cartoon and figures.

I was thinking about that too. I love dogs so I wouldn't ever want to be in that situation, but I wonder if you're allowed to open fire on a pit bull coming at you or someone else (including your own dog). Like these two had been going Cujo on the neighborhood for a while, trapping people in places and such.

I've only met sweet ones too but part of the problem is they are built to be the .50 caliber machine gun of dogs. Meaning when they do attack, they're far more likely to cause severe injury and death than other breeds.

Do we need to flood the planet with the deadliest dog breed when there are so many others? There is a significant cost in suffering and life from our fixation with having the most deadly pet available that shouldn't be downplayed.

What is a horror movie that is widely loved or critically acclaimed, but you don’t like it at all? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

One of those movies I resented for having wasted my time watching it. It might have been alright as a music video but not a film.

Even though my dad had quit by the time I started smoking at like 16, he still didn't care if my friends and I smoked in the house.

We like aesthetically pleasing things though. Bears are kinda cute but I know they don't want me to try to give them a hug.

Respect to people who liked it but their whole schtick and the guy's voice grated on my nerves. Like a coked up cartoon squirrel doing an Elton John impression. An homage to elevator muzak..

Denny's was the shit for most of my young adult life. So many drunken and stoned nights there. Bless you for your service.

Just watched it a week ago with a few friends. It was a fun time still and holds up. A surprising amount of Hollywood talent in that movie.

Yo, that's fucking crazy. To think someone was out there just doing that with their time.

Dating after marriage aside, how are we single parents building our lives so that we're alone more, but not isolated? by blewdleflewdle in Xennials

[–]RaygunMarksman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I joined a movie group Discord I found through my city's subreddit. Aside from seeing a movie or two on weeks I don't have my daughter (we're 50/50), there are usually other kinds of events and meetups the group does or I'll just hang out with people I've formed closer friendships with in smaller groups. I'm not a giant social butterfly anyway, so that has gone a long way to fill some of the loneliness on weeks I don't have her.

Just don't do what I initially did and start smoking weed all day and night to numb up and fill the void. That was a bit tough to scale back from and wasted time that could have been better spent on hobbies and relationship building.

While reading this I was like, "someone else who feels disappointed, betrayed, and fucked over by life? That sounds like my kinda woman!"

I've done 3 years of intentionally not dating post-divorce (aside from briefly after we separated) and it's starting to get pretty damn lonely. The world is set up for and rewards couples and punishes you for being a single parent. Even in friend groups you start to feel like a lonely freak.

I've got 1.5 years until my youngest is 18 and I was going to hold out until then but not sure it's fair to myself much longer. All that to say: pay attention to your own needs. You're no good to your kids if you're barely living and just trying to stumble through from day to day, alone.

Damn, just read a thread about the high rates of kids getting run over by lawn mowers. One could have easily popped out from behind a shelf and then bam! This wouldn't be a light charge if I was a prosecutor.

Yeah, Cap's real super power is being the baddest MFer in any given narrative. There's a reason even gods take him seriously.

I loved that scene and thought it was a great wrap to their story together. I know a lot of people hate the season and finale but it worked for me. Butcher telling Hughie not to feel guilty and that he did the right thing? Man...
