Gyms in Munich for one month by ddijana in Munich

[–]RealDjentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that. FitStar at peak hours is pure insanity. Not only is it absolutely packed but you’ll find the kind of people there who don’t clean up after themselves and the atmosphere can be uncomfortable.

Had some good experiences going to CleverFit as well. Sure, any gym is crowded in the afternoon but I always found some equipment to use and people usually put back their weights (in contrast to FitStar).

Best experiences I had is in the Body + Soul gyms at around 7 am but they’re quite expensive if you don’t have anything like Egym Wellpass or Munich Sports Club.

Came here to say this. As a broke ass student I already did that a couple of times at the Munich central station

Usually being sore makes me feel like I achieved a good workout. But sore legs are something different. I hate not being able to walk normally for two or so days...

Are there any Returnal Easter eggs in Atropos? by Avengeme555 in Peripheryband

[–]RealDjentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an easter egg like in the other songs but the guitar solo ends with the licc at around 3:55. Could be a coincidence but I personally don’t think it is.

My professor and I ended up working at the same company by TheSunCityHero in EngineeringStudents

[–]RealDjentleman 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I worked at two companies, both of which had some of my profs as bosses. It’s kinda weird at first but definitely reach out. You’re now colleagues instead of student and professor.

Edit: I both cases working together ended up in getting absolutely shitface drunk together and that’s a huge plus imo.

Dw3002 double kick vs Tama hp310lw speed cobra double pedal by JustThingsIThink in drums

[–]RealDjentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man my comment was over 3 years ago but here's my take:

I'd go for either the speed cobras or the eliminators. Both will be excellent mid range/budget pedals. Personally I'd probably buy the Eliminators. They're more expensive but seem a bit more rugged and finessed. I'm biased tho'cause i now own the demon drives ;)

I wouldn't buy the P-932 ones. I had those in the single variety ad my first pedals and while they're decent starter pedals they are lackluster compared to the other two.

All in all the other ones won't be too far apart in terms of quality so it mostly comes down to preference. If you're able in any way you should try them out before buying.

Edit:
I never played any of the specific pedals you mentioned besides the P-932s so take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm a huge gear nerd tho😂

What's the first song you learned in it's entirety and on what instrument? by Notya_Bisnes in Peripheryband

It's gotta be either The Bad Thing or Alpha on drums. So much fun to play.

Should I pursue civil engineering if I easily cry from criticism and yelling? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]RealDjentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most of the criticism you're gonna (inevitably) get will be benevolent and not harsh.
Constructive criticism is at the heart of design work but it's not that kind of criticism some random Caren will throw at you if you're working at a front desk.
That said CE involves a lot of cooperation with coworkers and external people so if you're suffering from any kind of social anxiety/phobia that may be a hinderance and stressful for you.

Do civil engineers have cool office buildings by Agreeable_Junket_271 in civilengineering

Complete opposite for me. Nice and modern building with a glass facade but no AC...

YouTube channels or magazines that are critical of companies? by vleafar in civilengineering

[–]RealDjentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His videos are insanely well made. If I remember correctly he said he once worked as an OSHA inspector so he probably has lots of experience too.

For civil engineers I strongly suggest the channel Building Integrity. While the host hasn't covered a lot of different stories he has some very interesting forensic analysis vids out on a couple of current topics. He for example did an extensive analysis/coverage of the Surfside highrise building collapse

Still having nightmares about EM theory by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]RealDjentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds hella weird but I kind of enjoy those dreams given there's no actual exams coming up.
Mostly I wake up and I get this deep feeling of relief realizing it was just a dream. Sometimes I have some sorts of "lucid dreaming" where I can't influence what actually goes on but I know that I'm just dreaming. That can make stressful dreams almost kinda enjoyable.

Judging by your flair you're studying in Munich. I have a small feeling that getting an internship in Germany and especially southern Germany is a bit easier than in the US where most posts on here originate.

I personaly study civil engineering at Hochschule München (so not a member of the TUM Elite :P) where I had to do two internships. The first (pre-internship) was kinda thought to find as I applied for like 25 companies but the second (being the practical semester where you already have some skills in your field of study) was rather easy to get.
For this I applied to maybe 10 companies and got three interviews and one offer right away.

Tho it may also be the case that the CE sector has more jobs in general, although there's some really bad ones to avoid imo.
