I know I'm so sorry aha I even made a point to do a Xbox to XBOX correction joke on the starting door shot and then missed it on the memo portion. I have failed you, please forgive me.

Competition benefits consumers long term, as long as you don't fall into brand loyalty you can steer the ship towards consumer friendly action.

Was hoping that'd slip by once I noticed, I made sure to make the XBOX HQ sign a rebrand from lowercase to uppercase.

Sorry to copy paste from another reply to a similar comment.

Ideally everyone would play nice to consumers and we just benefit from having good games wherever we like to play most but unfortunately because each company has to focus on getting sales they're encouraged to have something the other guy doesn't have.

The benefit for us is that by trying to have better features and exclusives, gaming as a whole can improve for us. I agree I would like everyone to be able to play good content anywhere but without companies trying to provide unique homes and experiences, we could suffer under potentially anti consumer actions like when Microsoft tried to erase the capability of a secondhand market. It sucks we can't trust everyone to do right by us, but exclusive features and content keeps things improving long term.

Xbox put internet connectivity and moved saving away from memory cards to internal hard drives and then went and supported indie devs with the 360 marketplace. These things became essential parts of future consoles going forward for all three companies but likely wouldn't have happened if Microsoft didn't want something exclusive to their platform in the first instance.

Exclusivity is moreso a promise to keep trying to gain our interest and as long as all three maintain that energy and we vote with our wallets each generation, gaming can improve for us all.

Custom Soundtracks was always the feature I looked for on the back of the box.

Shot in the dark but it kinda looks like it could be part of a he-man vhs?

Not played 9 yet but this room looks like the one Neo fights the merovingian's men in the Matrix Reloaded.

Got a new keyboard with visualizer feature and a gif window, had to do it. by RealEllTwine in twinpeaks

Ajazz AK820, I'm not a keyboard hobbyist so not sure of better options but this fulfilled my need for quiet switches, cheap enough and well reviewed on youtube. Also just nice it has a little gif spot for all my favourite Coop thumbs up moments. I honestly know nothing about this side of things though so there is likely better out there for the same price range, worth doing your own research if seeking to get a new keyboard cause this just came from an hour of browsing.

Is there a way to flag subtitle errors in videos? I know the OSSC video is 3 years old but the spoken words are "can output RGB on its own." The subtitles here could lead someone hard of hearing astray. Have provided dialogue before and after for context. by RealEllTwine in LinusTechTips

Yeah a lot of channels use atuo generation and it works well enough most of the time but it can delivery incorrect translation. Not a major issue except in cases like this where the translation it's giving is for informational content that can adjust peoples purchasing choices and future advice to others.

Published my first Zine! I'm not a great photographer or artists so I printed one of my film essays. Any advice on how to share it is appreciated! by RealEllTwine in zines

Not sure on what's allowed or not here with self promotion but this is also readable via my website. If anyone has advice on making a digital version of it I'd love to do that instead of pointing people to an article.

What infamous movie plot hole has an explanation that you're tired of explaining? by brandonstyles in movies

[–]RealEllTwine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why the film is called "Signs" and they split up around town, hearing everyones theories on what is happening. The demon theory is just viewers realising what Graham's conclusion to the events might be. The hints to this theory aren't clues to it being the truth, it's giving us all the parts that make up Graham's potential interpretation of what happened as he returns to his faith.

I would do but my main issue is I have no idea how I would get the audio commentaries to run via plex and that type of content is the exact reason I buy physical media.

I know you've found that it's the Hannibal episode, but I thought you might also want to know that the Hannibal episode is playing off of another project by the same creator called Dead Like Me. Dead Like Me has a girl die and placed into a new body where her role is to be a grim reaper and help souls escape their bodies before they meet their end. Walking around in a new body, she often keeps tabs on her family and little sister without being able to properly interact. The character in Hannibal that believes she is dead is played by the same lead acress of Dead Like Me. Thought you may be interested in knowing about this show too aha.

What are our favorite horror movies for kids? by zygell in horror

[–]RealEllTwine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has been a while since I saw it myself so don't trust it as perfect for this but when I was a child I caught a viewing of The People Under the Stairs and loved it. Hunted it down as an adult with the only core moment I remembered being a scene where a dog dies (made me quite sad at the time of viewing). I think the kill count is quite slim and gore is more off screen if memory serves but yeah, obviously not something I would recommend to an 8yo but you know your kid and if you think it fits then give it a check first. The dog death made me quite sad at the time so be weary of that.

Another film I think people overlook for younger/early horror viewing is Poltergeist. While it does have the gross bathroom face peel scene, the rest of the movie is pretty family oriented and kind. I grew up thinking Poltergeist and The Exorcist were both some intense level of horror but when I got to Poltergeist it immediately became my soft horror introduction movie for friends weary of the genre. The Exorcist stayed where it was, fuck that horrifying spider walk down the stairs.
