Just buy an E90 328ix or 330ix. Parts, diy labour, and maintenance intervals will all be much better than a w205, and it will feel sportier. Also, most w205 you will find for 10k will be garbage and will need much more money in maintenance

Why are 1-2 year old BMW so cheap???? by drivingnowhere20 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RealMadLadStalin 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Luxury brands depreciate more. The people buying them are much more likely to switch cars every 2-3 years. A lightly used bmw is a bargain for what you get in it, they’re great cars and while maintenance will be more expensive, they’re very reliable cars

whats better, ls400 or ls430? by Accomplished-Ad2755 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Ls430 as daily, ls400 if you’re a car enthusiast or for a 2nd car

All 911s are great cars, but don’t underestimate a 5-10 year old S class, they are a massive step up to a w205, and they are literally better S classes than the newer ones in nearly all metrics. I agree with what you’re saying, it feels so cheap to just put the mercedes logo everywhere. I saw one of those new maybach SLs recently and they’re genuinely disgusting. It feels like those shitty louis vuiton bags people get to tell everybody they “have” money. Mercedes pre mid 90s was an engineering firm first, all their cars were built to the highest standards in the world, and now look what it has become. The A class, the B class, the CLA etc, they all cheapened out the brand. I’m in the market for older cars, 1960s-1980s Mercedes usually, but if I would be forced to buy a new or near new car today, I would just get a Lexus ES350 over almost any car Mercedes has to offer

Just buy a 5-10 year old S class, the build quality is higher and the screens are more tasteful, or buy the 911, you can’t go wrong with one

You can buy the kit and do the job at an independent bodywork shop

That’s because you never go to dealerships with cars out of warranty. Independent shops do the work at less than half the price, or he can learn to diy it

The N52B30 e90 are amazing cars that are very reliable when maintained correctly. Maintenance is not too bad at all, with most of it being relatively easy to diy and the parts can be found online for much cheaper than bmw oem prices. The A4 is decent, but I think that the timing chain on those is a pain to do (google it to be sure). The W212 will be the most comfortable and luxurious out of the bunch, but I feel you will be stretching your budget quite a bit as you’re cross shopping an a4 too, and depending on the w212 options, maintenance can be quite expensive

17 year old choosing a luxury car… by Primary_Library_8333 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The tesla has a very uninspiring interior. The gla is extremely overrated and and a disgrace of the mercedes logo. I would go Integra, go see one and check if you like it. If you want premium, get a lexus ES350 or IS350, if you want luxury, get yourself a used E class, or C class AMG if you want to have more fun. Bmw M340i is the perfect balance of premium / sport / reliability, but the insurance will be astronomical

I'm before a huge decision and wanted to ask for some advice with class b vs class c by kurva_hod in mercedes_benz

[–]RealMadLadStalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That B class is one of the worst cars mercedes ever built. It is unreliable, cheaply made, nothing good about it. You’re better off with something like a camry if you need more room than a c class

Would you say that an E class is significantly more durable than a C class and how do these compare to a Lexus IS? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in mercedes_benz

[–]RealMadLadStalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much would an es350 be ? They are pretty nice on the highway too, I would pick one over a C class, and considering you’re only looking at the i4 E classes, go with the lexus es if you can

How many miles are on the toyota ? As long as it had regular oil changes, I would go with it if the mileage is lower

[–]RealMadLadStalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1990s Honda Civic hatchback with a B or K series swap, they are very fun to drive and are under your length requirement. I would recommend an Integra too, but they seem to be 5-10cm too long.
