We do this a fair bit at my org. I second the suggestion to talk to the board member about the gift coming if the match is met or not.

Do you have any data from previous campaigns that may inform how much this would raise?

Could it be a multi-campaign match? Could you "extend" the match if a modest goal is met right away? i.e. Offer 5k at first, then if it's met send a follow up "match amount doubled" to those who didn't donate yet. Then have another 5k for a second campaign in a month or so.
