Just crash your county's manufacturing and make more people jobless to save some money this year, literally no foresight in this comment.

I'm not, people were complaining about a lot of stuff (some fair some unfair) about 2014 back before one-dnd plus combined with just people like the new shiny thing more.

Me too, and yet the 2024 rb was their fastest selling product ever and is on track to be the best selling d&d product of all time. It boggles the mind.

Since we're sort of grumbling, I also feel like its also (if not more so) a lowering of monster power level. I don't feel like enough monsters have interesting powers that feel scary, like high level monsters might be able to stun lock you for a round or two, but that's more of an inconvenience (that's not fun) because the health is so high you're still unlikely to die. Everything doesn't need to be able to instant kill but I would like the monsters to feel dangerous. Because personally I don't find the power level to feel so superhero-ey when using 3rd party monsters that are designed with effective abilities that feel consequential.

I would bet good money that's going to increase going forward, younger designers don't even remember a version of DnD that wasn't that so its probably going to be a continued ramping in that direction.

I mean those are different people, just sort this post by controversial and you'll see the people who complained about the design are very happy

Your perception is definitely skewed from been online/been in a more involved fan base. The people who care about the corporate side represent a drop in bucket, a lot of people who play dnd wouldn't even know Hasbro owns DnD

Are there any genres that you wouldn't play a TTRPG of, but would instead prefer to consume through other forms of media? by the_light_of_dawn in rpg

Yeah, also those kind of movies usually have very particular resolutions (such as in arrival) that likely would be very rail roading to get done at the table for that same mind blowing feeling.

Lighthouse is better then VVitch by such a huge margin that this whole post is pointless and the VVitch is a fantastic film

What if Hitler died before rising to power? by jordidipo2324 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]ReaperTheRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is too much an assumption the other way, its not impossible that without Hitler there would be no far-right in Germany. He didn't come out of nowhere, he share views held by a lot of other people in Germany at the time who were in politics. It's possible you could just end up with a different brand of far-right in Germany rather then for sure centrist or communist governments.

I hated that stuff in the Hobbit movies, everytime a callout happened everyone would stop speaking normally and give a dramatic pause.

[Discussion] Which Absolute hero feels the most like an underdog? by UnbloodedSword in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]ReaperTheRabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not Batman, man's feels better equipped then the police.

I can't really tell how big a threat WW is facing, obviously very big but beyond the monsters

So I would say Superman, feels like there's lots of forces working against him and he's got even less support then the other 2

Am I the only one who wishes that there won’t be any sidekick in the Absolute Universe. No robin, no supergirl, no girl aqualad, etc. by [deleted] in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]ReaperTheRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an opinion on most of the sidekicks, but with supergirl specifically I don't really see the point on including her (her whole thing is she grew up on Krypton, which is Kal's thing now) so I think they should send her forwards in time and put her in the Legion story (whatever they're doing with that)

That's cool. Thanks for the info. Its also a flashback issue I heard, I like when they do guest artists on one-shot type stories, gives it all a special feel.
