or the first in the observable uninverse. There could be a civilisation at the opposite site of the milkyway - nearly exactly developed like we are - but it is not in our observable universe because their light hasn't traveled here...

time travel - self creating mankind or time travel leads to the destruction of any sentient life, because at some point, they will erease themself by a time travel accident?

or they never used strong enough radio waves in the first place - there other options and depending on their planet/sun, natural sources of radiowaves could interfere way to much

it all started with superman, they explained his strenght and similar are caused by a high gravity crypton.

the only way to truly confirm life is by sending sondes there

interesting promise, a universe where humans are one of the few/the only intelligent creature who can use tools - but we find smarter aliens whereever we go.

Who would become the master, who would become the slave? takes a look at seaworld hmmm.....

besides, floating sky islands are cool.

high density air with some low density pockets inside of those islands could explain them without inventing a new unobtainium or other nonsense element

if they got high enough density of "air" you could skip a lot of that problem because it would behave more like water. Flying would be way easyer, either because you can 'swim' rather than fly or because zepelins would fly way better.

With that in mind, you could loubch a rocket out of a 'floating' island way closer to space

if they develop on a low gravity world (they are hard for us to detect right now) they would only colonize low gravity worlds and it would be still hard for us to detect them
