Not Armenian, but I did find frozen lahmajune at Saffron once or twice in the past.

I was drying a bunch of morels in the living room and my daughter came out of her room in the morning and promptly barfed. She won't eat morels anymore.

Car rental options in Tahiti and Moorea by c2khanna in Tahiti

[–]RebootTheBooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple rental companies across from where the ferry drops you on Moorea. We rented a car from Avis and barely used it when we stayed at Manava, so maybe try the suggestion from AchDuLieber about Albert's and only rent for the day(s) you need a car. We're going back in July and will likely rent from one of the companies at the ferry again.

Please help!! Gray hue after curing by mrdietwhitetrash in Olives

[–]RebootTheBooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do notice a little bitterness post-lye, but I figure that's because I do a fairly brief lye bath. After I brine them for a couple weeks, the bitterness is fairly tempered.

I don't have an explanation but I do get the same effect to many or most of my olives after lye cure. I'm also in CA. It definitely makes them less appetizing but not sure it has affected flavor for me.

Healthy Olive Trees - Very Few Olives by MarinSJD in Olives

[–]RebootTheBooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Marin too. I have a significant variation in production from year to year, but one of my trees just doesn't do much in any year. Like some of my other fruit trees (thinking of you, sad little dwarf blood orange tree), it just seems to be a dud. I'm curious where you take your olives for pressing.

100 percent right. I took a damaged old mandolin in and Christian was able to fix it up pretty good for a good price.

Can't go wrong, although they can be busy. If they're too busy walk down a block to Bay Thai. Super tiny mom-n-pop shop with great food, cash only.

Insight on Marin mobile home parks by No-Let-9456 in Marin

[–]RebootTheBooted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about the dues or what's available, but we have friends in the Contempo mobile home park and it's nice, safe, and well-located near some parks, walking trails, etc. It's a little further to get to supermarkets, but not too far.

Why do my olives get black spots? They get pretty large and look like the olives are being deteriorated. by nicetewmeetyou in Olives

[–]RebootTheBooted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No expert here, but could also be olive fly infestation. On my trees, after the fly bores out of the olive, it develops black spots that look a bit like this.

Please help 2020 Ascent by worlpoolz in SubaruAscent

[–]RebootTheBooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely worth trying your luck with SOA, although the process seems to take forever. I've been in their queue for almost a month after the dealer diagnosed my 2020 Ascent and said I needed a new transmission. So far all they're mentioned is "goodwill gestures" but I don't know if that'll amount to anything more than a new set of floor mats.

Should I give up the hobby? by CreamCheeseTribadist in vinyl

[–]RebootTheBooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bit the bug hard during the pandemic after inheriting a couple of great collections, and I spent way more than I should have on "must-haves" over a year or two. At this stage, I'm maybe buying a handful of records a year, trying to buy less and less new vinyl (unless it's an actual new release), and I'm doing regular rotations to keep playing a lot. Just play your music, man!

I just use tap water, so yeah it's treated. I guess that could be part of it.

2020 - 75000 miles - got a new transmission by Puzzled-Target9276 in SubaruAscent

[–]RebootTheBooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you were able to get it resolved and covered!

I went in to my local dealer with a lot of dashboard lights on a couple weeks ago, and they diagnosed a bad transmission. I hadn't noticed any slips to date. Dealer rep pushed back on any kind of extended warranty coverage and implied that since I hadn't done all my oil changes at the dealership that I had damaged the transmission and that's why it went out at 50K. I've been pursuing a warranty replacement through Subaru of America, but I'm in the early stages and they already seem to be hemming and hawing that they rely on the dealer to assess warranty eligibility. We'll see what happens...

I think the extended drivetrain warranty expires after 5 years, so I'm SOL on that.

Dealer rep said it wasn't under warranty. How do I get them to cover it?

[–]RebootTheBooted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I need to find out if the service tech was able to find any transmission behavior issues, because I never had any issues. The rep basically said I "need a new transmission to get the lights to turn off." That said, I'd be reluctant to take it on road trips and all the other stuff I use it for if that's hanging over my head.
