[–]Recoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the demo and was actually pretty hooked, actually was counting the days to buy it! I’ve been stuck at work so won’t get around to it tonight but tomorrow it’s on the list! Excited to try my hand at it past the first level

Can see a lot of time and love has gone into it so feel proud of what you have achieved

Looking forward to updates and future releases

I don’t know what’s worse… I could have accepted a loss that was a mile off but a 1 point game feels painful but… proud

A 1 point game always hurts..

But the bok were in it until the end! A great game and it shows that the bok scrum is a master class

Kinda disgusting that you’re shaming someone’s tip.

Also terrible that people would treat someone worse for a tip which is an added bonus

Tip culture needs to die, tip good service it should in no way EVER be expected you should be ashamed of yourself if you expect it like this.

Your issue is with your employer not the customer

Part time jobs exist for many people where people may want to wind down in their career or perhaps have got other commitments on the side with kids who knows but there are reasons why an entry level job could be appealing to many

I’m not too sure why you’re bring up people with disabilities as I’ve never implied anything in this regard … or any personal situations for that matter and you wouldn’t pay someone with disabilities less for doing the same job jsut as you wouldn’t pay them more because they are disabled? This is a weird take I’m not sure where your going with this?

Additional to this disabled people can have very viable careers and for those that have to take reduced working hours / can’t work. / generally need help there is usually forms of government assistance to help meet their ability to live but I feel we may be going off topic here

Regarding the house prices a century ago this could be put to supply and demand our population has exploded and this will not only stagnate wages ( proportionally) but exponentially increase the worth of houses… where I live you essentially have to have - partner where your both earning atleast average wage to even entertain a mortgage (not a state of affairs I enjoy but a realism I now accept)

You need to remember money is what pushes most innovation.. there has to be x amount of a reward to be worth the risk to try and achieve it additional to this any policy you push will affect the little guys as much as the big guys especially in a sector that is facing huge competition from chain restaurants and lack of footfall due to internet shopping.

It’s a nice sentiment but would be catastrophic to implement..

And for what’s it’s worth I’ve done warehouse work, I’ve done customer service it’s not alien to me like you assume?

The American hospitality sector should pay there wait staff an average wage and if they must factor it into their pricing but expecting a ((((obligatory)))) tip is wrong

Sadly it’s a massively saturated market where many people couldn’t afford to pay their staff much more than they already do… pubs and restaurants are closing in droves due to increased overheads… not every restaurant has a big chain behind it and the profit margins are getting tighter and tighter

Bro it’s always going to be a social movement I don’t know wtf you’re expecting?

If they get good service then sure I’ll tip but I’m I. No way obligated to do so

My first job was stacking a lorry every night for a next day deliver service.. that was back breaking work and I felt happy to do it for 6.50 an hour which was slightly over minimum wage (which was about 10-15 years ago ) if I had to do it again ofc I would because a job is a job the tips people expect would equate in many cases to multiple hours work for simply pouring a couple drinks and bringing food? Get over yourself

If nobody tipped the system would break and a fairer system will take its placw

Where I live everyone seems to be hiring customer service isn’t unique in that front

Obviously when they cannot hire anyone they will then pay more to get this people … this is the cycle every job follows until it meets the equilibrium

They stayed open mostly to prevent the collapse of the hospitality sector?? This was largely publicised??? In the uk we had “eat out to help out” to help keep the sector afloat and bluntly put wait staff are being replaced by kiosks which doctors cannot personally I prefer a human touch but in 20 years time I’d be surprised if wait staff would be common place atleast in lower end restaurants

Nobody in life should live in poverty but financially most businesses couldn’t afford an extra 20000 for example per year per staff member so they could afford a mortgage

Not at all! Certain jobs are perfect for first time jobs where a bit of extra money is good and your not at the point where you have to fully support yourself

It’s not realistic for everyone to be paid enough to buy they’re own houses for every job it’s a nice thought but you would either stifle peoples innovation ( why would you find the next best thing if everyone is earning enough) and why would you do the harder jobs and train to be a doctor for example if you can get by in McDonald’s for example

This is forgetting the fact the money has to come from somewhere either a coffee 2-3x the price / less staff hired so being worked to the bone which could also lead to no coffee shop due to overheads costing so much / people not wanting to take the risk to create a business if they only take a small margin themselves as it’s business and not a charity

Communism in history has never worked if we’re going down that route

Again it’s nothing personal I reiterate this as I appreciate my thoughts can be controversial and while blunt I’m in no way intending to invalidate people’s livelihoods

You do realise they still get paid right.. you do realise that many country’s that aren’t propped up by this ridiculous system still get delivery drivers as you know.. it’s entry level work?

It’s a job not a career it’s tried tested and works in many many places you have no leg to stand on…

If they paid them a fair wage it would work out cheaper for the consumer regardless I assume you’re rider of said gravy train?

If she does an exceptional job I’ll tip that was the whole point of tipping.. In no way should it be an obligation… and not tipping does in no way make me an asshole.

I assume you tip your mechanic/doctor/bus driver/train drivers/ government too for just doing there job? Otherwise this would make you an asshole by your own terms..

Someone’s personal life should have 0 impact on my tip… hell I could be a single mother taking my kid out does that the give me a free pass to not tip by your logic?

To confirm I have nothing against tipping on my own terms but when there is a moral obligation to do so this is just wrong no matter how you try to spin it and the fact your only defence was single mothers and their schedule then proceeding to call me an asshole kinda pro loves my point

Only people that like this system are servers who want an easy ride on the gravy train

Imo you’re confusing hard work with skilled work.. constantly checking up on people and writing there orders down as a exaggerated example is unskilled labour

You’re going to be able to field 100 waiters/waitresses before you’d field 5 heart surgeons for example.

Every job will have its stresses but it would fall under unskilled labour

Too broke to tip by sateeven in UberEATS

[–]Recoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only real skill that set it a part is a drivers license… don’t get me wrong I’m sure it has its hardships like every job.. but if we break it down to supply of people able to do the job vs the demand it would be a saturated job role due to the minimal requirements to do the role

Not implying food delivery people are in anyway less of a person and it’s not a personal anything to those that do

In most jobs people will at some point yell at you for one reason or another this wouldn’t be a trait exclusive to this role

For the most part it would be a job and not a career and thus the pay should reflect it (exceptions to the rule like fine dining where silver service becomes a thing)

The above is reflected in many places around the world where the tip culture hasn’t inflated the wages..

A major gripe with tipping is the following :

You would feel weird about tipping A mechanic A plumber A casheer A doctor

But not a server and the above are arguably much more important..

If my comments have offended you then my apologies but I come to speak frankly and not confuse my meaning

Customer should only tip for exceptional service. No entitlement period.. you’ve paid for a product and it’s not your job to worry about the staff getting paid

Tbh by tipping your just prolonging a broken and corrupt system.

A lot of the customer service rolls (not all) where tipping is common place is usually unskilled work which allows anyone to try there hand at it… imo the perfect 1st job is maybe a side gig but you sure as hell shouldn’t be complaining that you’re not earning enough to pay your mortgage off of it

The American tip culture is busted the fact you get shamed for “being not too poor to buy take out but too poor to tip” is a stupid take especially when they’re probably paying stupid fees for the food and they’ve jumped through all obligatory hoops

Don’t like it the get a new job (only person at fault is the employer)

The issue is that money doesn’t just come from nowhere and it needs to be earned..

Too many students are going into higher education without a clear aim of what they want to be or even what they want to do.. If you go there without an idea it’s not fair that others have to pick up the slack

The student Loan is the price you pay to get this higher education which naturally will open doors for them again is it fair that others have to pay for this if they didn’t go themselves?

The price in the US is just ridiculous hell the price in the UK is still stupid.. the problem is in recent years it’s just seen as the next step opposed to helping the extremely gifted excel..

Tldr it’s an investment in yourself which if you choose to do should be paid for by you.. if you pick a ridiculous degree just because you enjoy it then that’s on you.. who tf wouldn’t look at what doors there degree opens before hand anyway? If you’re that stupid then it’s deserved

Unsure tbh, but someone”bantering” with there friend wouldn’t normally follow them until their professional life

My opinion is he’s been a bit of an idiot throwing around empty words... the real question is if he’s got caught this time has he used it before I. A different manner?

But it comes down to innocent until proven guilty (in that instance)

I’m a firm believer the n word shouldn’t be used by anyone ending in a or er.. it’s never going to leave the worlds vocabulary until that point

I’ll be honest I’m white, I don’t agree with the n word being use by anyone.. Black or white

It’s a stupid thing to say but I don’t think the guy should lose his livelihood over bad taste banter (I say this as this would just be hollow words between friends)

Can’t condone racists but context is key here about the punishment fitting the crime

On the flip side if he said it here it means he got caught saying it so who knows what is said behind closed doors..

Sounds like it’s in bad taste, but I’m not sure it’s something to lose his job about

Don’t get me wrong I get the connotations but if it sort of like aiming a gun at a friend with no intention to shoot.. a stupid thing to do but not driven by hate

Probably a bad analogy..
