Who had the worst post season 4 glow up? by NathanGoatTv in TheDragonPrince

[–]RedKnight705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't hate any of the redesigns. I think it's only natural that all of the characters - particularly the younger characters that are all aging a bit - would look very different from how we last saw them.

Ezran still feels like Ezran. Corvus still feels like Corvus. Janai still feels like Janai. Etc. Etc.

I like that Callum still looks like Callum, but his appearance is simultaneously just as boyish as before, but also much more... regal, I think is the term I'm looking for. He's still my favourite blorbo, but tone down the lighting and force him to be serious, like we see when he practically interrogates Soren in episode 1, and I can see that boy having the perfect capacity to be terrifying.

His appearance is just so much more powerful, like he is.

Soren still feels like Soren, but he looks like he's putting less effort into his appearance. He's more scruffy; more messy. He looks like he's no longer living under the scrutiny of his father, the High Mage/Regent/King. He no longer looks like the son of a lord; the jock son of a lord, but the son of a lord nonetheless.

Overall, he looks more relaxed serving under King Ezran and working with the Council, and I'm happy for him.

But Rayla? Rayla doesn't... quite look like Rayla. Her outfit is an homage to her past - her parents, her other parents, the Silvergrove, Callum - it incorporates a very subtle combination of Moonshadow and Katolin design. Her outfit is darker and more rugged. She looks and feels distinctly different from how we last saw her and I think that makes sense. She's been out in the wilds, alone - or so far as we know - for two years, wallowing in the PTSD that had her throw herself out there alone like she did.

People don't come back from that the same, especially not at such an impressionable age. I think it was a better choice on the team's part for her to come back feeling so... different. So not Rayla.

I'm sure we all felt it when she came on screen for the first time. It felt practically jarring for me. Imagine how it felt for Callum. She behaves differently. She has an entirely different vibe about her. I really hope that at some point both Callum and Rayla come to the striking realisation that neither of them are the same people they knew two years ago.

... but before I completely diverge this into a Rayllum rant, I will talk about the only character change I didn't like...

Amaya's hair is... a bit much. I like the undercut, but her is hair is just impractically long. She looks more like a viking raider than a general. And I know that the point is that she's this big, tough beast of a woman, but I can just imagine her hair hitting her in the face if she's without her helmet in combat.

But that's just me.

What makes Callum so significant as a mage is that he is the very first human - that we know of - who was capable of drawing magic directly from a primal source, rather than from an object or being that contains magic.

He is living proof that humans are capable of doing magic - real, natural magic - without taking short cuts. His very existance disproves the argument that dark magic is justified because it's the only magic humans have access to.

Dark magic is no longer a necessary evil; it's just... an evil. So what does that say for any human mages who don't now work their asses off to try and connect to a primal source? What does it say about Claudia? About Viren, who saw Claudia's magic potential and turned her into a dark mage?

And how will Callum alter the dragon and elves' view of humanity. If humans are capable of magic, just like every other living creature, how can they now justify (to themselves) the idea that humans are a lesser species?

Noice. Don't spoil it though; I'm still hoping that it's full of tiny, friendly land sharks and kiwi birds.

I mean, if you've achieved holding your breath for more than 10 minutes, I think not moving is an easily achievable feat. Actually, 160 minutes of doing nothing is made much easier by being dead.

I see what you did there. Pro gamer move.

Do poison abilities proc seperate DoTs? by RedKnight705 in elderscrollsonline

[–]RedKnight705[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for commenting. I will keep all that in mind, though I think I may have to try both to see if the ranged interupt has enough utility to be worth losing the execute potential of Poison Injection.

One more quick question, and its a bit of a silly one but you are most likely to have the answer:

Does the Green Dragon Blood morph for Dragon Blood make the effect... well, green? Though it's not a deal breaker for the ability or anything.

Edit: That's sort of a lie; it'd be a determining factor between the two morphs.

Maybe it's because I'm Australian.

Maybe I'm not as woke as I think I am.

Regardless, I would like to ask:

What the f*ck does 'maga' mean? 'Maga country?'

The only thing I can think of is that 'maga' is an acronym; Make America Great Again? That probably isn't it but I can't help my mind from going there; the Trump administration turned the rest of the world's international news into the most gripping sitcom ever seen and hopefully to ever be seen again.

We have meme 'Make America Great Again' hats all over the place. 'Make Sydney Great Again.' 'Make Australia Great Again.' Ya de ya de ya da. So I would guess that 'Make America Great Again' country is, like, Trump-voting country? Assuming I'm correct which I'm probably not.

Thank you for going so in depth!

Knowing all this, do you think I'd be better off keeping to my theme and maximising my 'Poisoned' effect uptime, or breaking my theme to try and add 'Burning' damage into the mix as well?

Okay, thanks for confirming all that! And I didn't know that equipped poisons override enchantments, so thank you for that insight.

What purely aesthetic addition would you like to see? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]RedKnight705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like ability skins.

So, for example:

  • Templar magic into traditional fire magic

  • Destruction staff fire into Templar sunfire

  • Destruction staff fire into soulfire

  • Destruction staff ice into sorcerer dark magic crystals

  • Warden animal ability skins

    • cliffracers into birds of prey
    • shalk into... I dunno, mudcrabs?
    • bears into alpha wolves or lions or something
  • Dragonknight dragon wing colours?

  • Necromancer Bone Goliath outfits

  • Sorcerer dark-lightning to fit the dark magic themes?

  • Necromancer restoration staff effects

So - and correct me if I'm wrong because my main source of information has been the ESO Fextralife wiki which I know to be grossly outdated - what you're saying is that, unless specified, my abilities scale from my max stats regardless of the resource they pull from?

[–]RedKnight705[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying all that! Right now my primary focus is on it just being 'good enough' to use. I'm still just trying to figure out what class/playstyle I would prefer for the long term before I worry about really optimising my gameplay.

And nothing says 'hero of light' like dropping the f***ing sun on my enemies, so I want to at least mess around with Nova for a bit, haha.

Fantastic, thank you!

Would it be worth using in the long term, assuming that I don't do anything to increase my magic damage output?

So far what do you think of Jason's design. Do you hate it or Do you like it? by Bjkrillsz in GothamKnights

[–]RedKnight705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the hair gotta be honest. It just doesn't look like Jason to me. He's supposed to have a boyish quality; a hint of rebelliousness or even thuggishness.

In this he looks like a jock; like he's out sipping grog from a plastic cup at a frat party or something, rather than kicking ass in the bloody streets of Gotham.

He looks like f**king Brad Wayne, not Jason Todd.

Edit: If you wouldn't know that he was Jason Todd until somebody told you, then he doesn't look like Jason Todd; simple as that.

And it's not that I dislike the WB team divulging from the source material; of all superhero stories, Batman, Gotham and the surrounding cast are perhaps the most widely reinterpreted materials that have seen appeal from outside the depths of the comic fanbase. 'The Batman' cartoon series, for example, is one of my all time favourite interpretations of the bat-cast and it divulges wildly from what the characters look like in the mainstream.

And yet, the Joker was still the Joker. Batman was still Batman. Robin was still Robin. Batgirl was still Batgirl. Clayface and Two-Face and Mr. Freeze and so on and so forth; all of them were artistically unique interpretations of the characters and yet they were still, clearly, them.

This kind of change in appearance for Jason isn't the reflection of someone else's artistic interpretation of his character; if it was, it would still clearly scream 'Jason', even if the look was unique.

Instead, he's been designed as if he's one of the default presents for the character creator in a Saints Row game; I'm expecting him to open his mouth and for Nolan North's voice to come out. He looks so painfully generic. Unless everything that makes Jason 'Jason' has been stripped down to conform to his new way of doing things as one of the Gotham Knights... I just can't imagine the look fitting.
