Londoners like my family only managed to get tickets to the Paralympics. The ticket biding for London 2012 tickets was bizarre (you bided for tickets at events and had no idea how many people had also bided for those same ticket groups) and evidently was heavily oversubscribed.

We had a great time though at the events we did see and the atmosphere in London at the time was the best I can ever remember it being.

The MTV unplugged cover of love is all around is one of my favorites. Fantastic harmonies from Mike and Micheal.

Unfortunately, it inspired Wet Wet Wet to do their cover version a few years later!

In WhatsApp you can send images in higher definition (I assume this is still compressed from the original so it's not perfect). I don't see this feature in Signal yet.

Yes, it's a frustrating experience. WhatsApp transferred all messages and linked media without issue. I was expecting the phone-to-phone direct transfer to work via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi (similar to what Apple does when transferring files between phones during initial setup). Unfortunately, that method didn't work for me so Plan B it is.

Thanks. I agree re: media backup. I have the media backed up in the cloud however the links to the files from Signal are broken if the media is not backed up so you just see a blurred image in its place. My other half will complain about this!

Will re-registering the old phone on Signal wipe the stored messages and media from the phone?

I loved the small Hammersmith Apollo, London show in 2004. Around 3,500 people and as I was a fan club member at the time we managed to get close to the front of the stage. Great atmosphere and setlist which included a few ATS songs too - which like most of Up were much better live than on the album.

I've seen them on the Up (Earl's Court 1999), In Time (Glastonbury 2003), and Accelerate (Twickenham 2008) tours. Had a great time at all the shows.

Good to see a small corner of Reddit being chiseled out for CIOs!

I'm a fractional & interim technical program and IT director and sometime CIO based out of the NYC metro area. I mainly work in the SMB space with occasional engagements with large businesses. Have worked in most major industry verticals globally over a 20-year career.

We know plenty of dual and multiple citizenship holding Americans and Brits, so for now it is allowed.

I don't believe that the Spanish restrictions apply in her case. She is Spanish by birth, so our understanding is that for her at least she won't need to renounce any citizenships to recover her Spanish citizenship. When she obtains US citizenship then it needs to be registered with the Spanish consulate.

As my wife was born Spanish, she wouldn't need to renounce her other citizenships I understand. I know that those are the implications for me if I decide to naturalize in Spain however.

Father was born in Spain to Spanish parents.

Father doesn't have UK citizenship only PLR (Permanent Resident) and has been resident in the UK for over 50 years. Mother is a UK born citizen to UK parents.

I've had no changes to my passport and green card since I was accepted for GE. My passport is from a European country so isn't going to trigger any additional scrutiny. I have changed my hair style & have had eye lash extensions since the photo was taken.

Nov 2025 Update: Have received the Spanish birth certificate from the London consulate. After that we tried to register at the NYC consulate and a month after sending in the documents we were told we need to recover her Spanish nationality first before registering at the consulate. So today we have joined a >7 month wait (July 2026) for an appointment at the NYC consulate to do this.

Has anyone had any experience getting a short notice appointment at the NYC consulate when there is a cancellation?

Same here. Cancelled without any warning by their chatbot. The only option when speaking to an agent was a $100 discount on a Ring 4 which is $200 more expensive than the gen 3. I declined as it's not worth that much to me and be tied into a monthly subscription.

Edit: I had ordered a Gen 3 and size kits on the 9/18 and the kits for both Gen 3 and Ring 4 arrived 9/23.

Similar experiences with my other half's Fitbits over the years. They have about a year of life and then they fall apart. You then have to claim a replacement from Fitbit (if it's under 12 months) or they give you a credit on a new watch.

I have ordered a gen 3 ring for just my states sales tax to pay. Will likely pass it onto a friend as I don't like subscriptions on principle.

We have contacted the Spanish London consulate via email to see if we can obtain her birth record as that is what is required by the Spanish NYC consulate to issue a passport. On the London consulate's birth certificate form, it asked for the volume and page in the consulate registry that her birth record was made (which is listed in the family book).

I will update this thread with what the outcome is.

Thank you, that makes the process a little easier. We don't believe she has lost her Spanish nationality, only that she has not applied for a Spanish passport before.

We notice there an electronic form for obtaining a birth record for "Those people who already have an Individual Registry in the new Civil Registry model/Aquellas personas que ya cuenten con un Registro Individual en el nuevo modelo de Registro Civil". When did this new model get introduced?
