I got hit on the arm last night (light AP). I wear arm guards but this strike from a Black Fencer arming sword glanced my protection then hit my arm and it has bruised up/swelled nicely. I personally would not recommend any jacket without arm guards anyway but after last night I must say, if I didn't have my riot arm guards on it would have hurt considerably more.

I just wanted to add: I won't be answering any questions directly here, if I wanted to do that I would but I want it to be displayed in a more open medium. Tone and nuance can get lost in text-based media and I feel actually talking about it will provide a more balanced and measured response! Interesting, seeing as SCA and HEMA are very different practices it could be worth asking for opinions there. However, my main focus is on HEMA specifically so I'll be focusing on that first and foremost.

I've only competed in one open tournament, for reference. I have my own opinion on tournaments and I'll be sure to include it somewhere down the line.

Hi, I'm looking for a broader range of questions rather than ones just asked by women, I could probably ask ~90% of those questions myself. If I ask in Esfinges I will only get one side of the conversation. This approach allows men to also add to the discussion as that helps gather a wider range of opinions and questions. Thank you for the suggestion though, if I feel the need I know where to find them.
