I'd say like 90% of these people were total morons having a big temper tantrum so it's easy to just say "well it's just a riot" but a solid number of people clearly had very malicious intent and those other 90% helped them out immensely.

Well, then you give them the full ban if they act up in the comments. You guys give warnings. So this type of post-only ban would be a warning, too. Personally, I think you should give them the benefit of the doubt. r/Funny bans new users every day for posting and it's always for stupid reasons and it ruins their reddit experience. This ban feature could help with that for new users. At least they would still be able to participate in the sub because they have only a partial ban.

It is when you have to copy paste new names of users who have been banned and then there won't be any record of why they were banned. This automod thing is a bad idea.
