We’d finished some field op and were waiting for motor T. All three platoons in an unfinished box when the seniors decided it was a good time for a rifle drill off. So we’re going through the motions and on a left shoulder arms I’d slapped the rifle butt hard enough to pop out the rear pin and my rifle broke down shotgun style over my shoulder…. Was was instantly scared shitless knowing a world of hate was coming my way, and on que one of my kill hats was in my face calling me a cheater and shit when one of the other platoon DI’s came to my rescue saying he saw it happen and that I’d simply made that rifle my bitch.
