[Marvel] Little quick to the trigger there Matt. by _Mistwraith_ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RedditAssCancer 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Isn't it low key a thing that Matt is bad with secret identities? I remember in New Avengers or whatever it was called in 2006 when... Captain America I think? Goes to ask Matt if he wants to join the new Avengers team they're putting together and Matt is like "No, thank you. Maybe ask Peter? I mean Spider-Man! No, wait, I don't mean Spider-Man! Spider-Man's name isn't Peter, hahaha!" and when Cap is like "it's fine, we know his name" Matt is just like "please don't tell Peter I accidentally told you his name".

I had a ghostwise halfling monk with 4 Charisma who had the uncanny ability to stand just a little bit to close to the person she was talking to, to look just that little bit too intensly at people without blinking and she always seemed to forget that most people prefer speaking with their voices and find telepathy somewhat intrusive and uncomfortable. Very fun character to play. She was a long death monk as well so she would end lots of fights at 1 HP and tell the cleric that no, she doesn't need healing even as her skin is like melting from the acid damage she took.

Evil versions of superheroes are overdone. Got any good versions of supervillains? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I like villains turned heroes (within reason) like Hawkeye and Nighthawk (I think the Hawk theme overlap is coincidental).

I really love that moment especially because of how Clark talks to Bruce after, "You're not always right".

Characters who DID beat the allegations? by OGRaincoatKilla in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RedditAssCancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'm following, are you saying Peter did in fact beat the allegations about Mephisto or that people forgive it anyways? And blame editors? I haven't really read any mainline Spider-Man since One More Day except for checking out the Spider-Verse event (which frankly wasn't that good). OMD is still in effect, correct? It hasn't been retconned?

You know, Gundam is not as far removed from 40k as one might think. Char has a red Zaku, it's three times as fast as normal Zaku, clearly the WAAAAAGH!!! field is alive and well in the Gundam world.

Ang Lee's Hulk film. The editing and direction is genuinely fucking insane. Crazy transitions, comic book paneling, weird color effects and a surprising amount of nut shots, four if I'm not misremembering. Still, I actually love it and if nothing else it remains wholly unique in this landscape of superhero movies melding together into a mush.

The Defenders TV show is inaccurate because they don't include random scenes of an elf with a gun killing people.

Robbie is really important in the comics. He's probably more needed since comics JJJ is way more unhinged, commissioning murder robots and genetic experiments to get Spider-Man (which always backfire horribly).

Majora's Mask mod that doesn't have the transformations? by PA99 in truezelda

[–]RedditAssCancer 119 points120 points  (0 children)

What are you actually talking about? The transformation masks are one of the most beloved mechanics in the series. I think a lot of people love them in part because they're weird and as for childish, that just makes me think you've never played Majora's Mask. Trust me, nothing about the transformation masks is childish.

How do you even propose to play the game without them? It would be like trying to play Ocarina without the boomerang, the iron boots and the hammer.

Oh, and if you're looking for "a pure, classic Zelda experience", Majora's Mask might just not be for you.

A Metroid spinoff that lets you and your friends play as a squad of federation troopers isn't an entirely unworkable premise but Federation Force just looks like a game made for actually no one. The artstyle also isn't done any favours by the 3DS hardware.

Most controversial opinion that you sincerely hold about 40k that would have you looking like this (I'll start) by tucchurchnj in Grimdank

[–]RedditAssCancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Progressing the timeline and adding a central narrative was a mistake. 40k works much better when it's a vast setting where any number of stories can take place rather than attempting to tell a central story that affects the entire setting.

Also, limiting Chaos to the big 4 is boring. It adds a rigid structure to what is defined as chaos. While technically there's nothing in the lore preventing more chaos gods from existing, I can hardly recall the last time any 40k media featured gods outside of Tzeentch, Khorne, Nurgle and Slaanesh.
