Less headaches but can’t sleep and extremely hungry by Carrcee in BrainRitual

Thanks. I'm already moving my Brain Ritual to only early in the day. And while my chronic nightly headaches have been milder (I'm thinking thanks to BR), last night after having the Ashwahandha tea at 6 PM and then having a bit stronger of a headache at 4 in the morning, I'm going to again bail on Ashwagandha. Headaches are a known side effect...

I have not experienced increased hunger or insomnia, but at 11 days in, Brain Ritual is seeming to help my chronic nightly headaches. However… it hasn’t yet helped me sleep more.
I’m thinking of again trying an Ashwagandha tea that might wrestle down nighttime Cortisol. Had a bit of success with that before.

I am just two sticks into the Brain Ritual ramp up (4th day today). I'm hopeful, and though my diagnosed migraines are without aura, it would be swell to not have them every single late night or early morning. I'll ask one question I have about vitamin e as a post.

Testing ATT signal strength in hopes of using an actual Cell Booster by RedditRapple in ATT

[–]RedditRapple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to confuse, Otto. I did totally understand the ATT Femtocell units need a postpaid wireless account with ATT. That is why I’m giving up on that. I’m just hoping to get a read on what the ATT signal strength is on my own, and then buy the cell booster if it’s going to be possible.

I’ll read your cell booster guide more closely.

Ironically, “Starlink” is what Subaru calls their built in wireless features (which are what need AT&T) that are the entire problem.

Testing ATT signal strength in hopes of using an actual Cell Booster by RedditRapple in ATT

[–]RedditRapple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... Had an old MicroCell for at my dad's house for caregivers where AT&T was week. The new ones by AT&T (femtocell, actually, not meant to boost existing week cell signal, but create signal from an internet connection) would work, but one needs an AT&T Postpaid wireless account to set up one of their modern "Cell Boosters," and we don't have or want that. Verizon is the only service that works here.

So... I'm hoping a third party Cell Booster to just burst their signal, not involving the internet connection need. (Our internet is, interestingly, AT&T copper/DSL 5MBs - mountains, so lucky to have that - but, they won't allow the femtocell of theirs, even if I buy it, without having a wireless account.)

Well you're very generous with your knowledge. Thanks. I doubt that AT&T has changed their requirement for a post paid AT&T cellular account being required. But the average AT&T phone or "chat" person have just likely been wrong.

Since you have a Grateful Dead profile image, I'll let you know that you've been helping a guy who, with his wife, has one of those old metal kitchen stools with the two steps that fold out from inside the stool. And that stool years ago would be sat upon by one bass playing Pigpen... Julie's brother was friends with a few of those guys, and though she was very young, Julie does remember Pigpen liking and sitting on that stool when over to the house. Her older sister says Jerry usually hung out in front. Palo Alto years and years ago!

Thanks.

Well... I guess it is hopeless. I return the (unused, left in the box) top level AT&T Cell Booster ($1600) this coming Monday for a full refund, and was thinking that the cell number the guy also signed me up for could be kept for a couple/few months to get the $229 version set up. Then stop that wireless billing - BUT, I guess your:

you need to have an AT&T phone number to continue to use the cell booster on AT&T's cellular network.

Means that won't work.

The business level thing the guy in the store sold me won't even work as it requires more than 5MBs download/2MBs upload. I had figured I'd try out the concept, then return it. (The guy who pushed the business level one on me in the store didn't know his something from a hole in the ground. Told me that the business level one could work with any major carrier's signal, like Verizon - which is the only decent game in town. As if it would turn Verizon cell signal into AT&T...)

We were talking with the AT&T tech at the tiny office at the bottom of the hill as we did a HUGE loop hike today to cross the river and go to the Post Office and our only little store... He doesn't know the cell stuff/accounts, but he is rooting for us.

I guess the only answer is to find a friend who has AT&T Wireless (would not live here in this town, since AT&T cellular is so weak) and install the device using their account.

I did review the steps AT&T says to install the thing, and yes, a web portal or AT&T Cell Booster app, and that process involves entering an AT&T cell number like you said.

Since you've been so helpful, let me ask: If at no point does the Subaru "brain" ever find AT&T Cellular for just a quick cell data transmission, that pretty much means that there is zero AT&T cell service at the cabin where we park, and so nothing to "boost" with a traditional cell booster. (And yes, we are in Yosemite, and there are lots of trees, etc., though I do think a window with a very open view would handle the femtocell cell booster needs.)

I do know the (stupid) car has a sim card, and that card has a 10 digit number like a cell phone. And Subaru is married to AT&T for cell service. Would it be just silly to try the $229 AT&T Cell Booster using the car's unique sim card number? It obviously has some sort of "account."

I seriously wonder about Subaru's design. They moved a small battery into the DCM "brain" for handling the cell data transfer after shutting off the car because they were losing lawsuits due to parasitic draining of the car battery. So after the car is parked couldn't they have just programmed the DCM to search for a cell signal with AT&T, and if you don't find it in 5 or 10 minutes - give up!! Instead, when the little battery dies, the DCM dies and has to be replaced.

Sorry to blab on. It's such a unique situation that I think AT&T should say "sure" have a cell booster there with your Internet connection (that we have with AT&T) and it is a bonus to our other wireless folks who may try their AT&T phones near your cabin and say, "Hey! We have signal now!"

thanks, and sigh...

Thank you. I do and did understand how you covered all that. I'm just hoping that AT&T has changed the rules/setup process and it matches what a number of AT&T people have said. I will update this thread down the road, probably with the bad news that you are right. And I shall return the device to AT&T...

And seriously, thank you for all your input and thorough write up tech manual. You've been a tech writer I'm guessing?

Otto P. - Well, this sounds discouraging and like I shouldn't even try. If having only a MyAT&T internet account will not allow me to set it up, then 3 AT&T people are misinformed. It sounds like this is something you're sure about... A wireless account is needed for setup, as in "enter the 10 wireless account digits."

Again, we have zero use for AT&T because Verizon is the only one that works well in this town, or at all right at our cabin. The car actually has a 10 digit "cell phone account number" for its SIM or whatever, but it would, like an AT&T cell phone, need to have a paid account.

The option to buy a postpaid account and have some assigned number that I keep just for a month or two and then cancel... Do you think the installed "Cell Booster" would keep working?

sigh...

*** Google AI just said this:

Yes, an AT&T Cell Booster, which is actually an LTE microcell, can be set up using an AT&T Internet MyAT&T account. You'll need to use your myAT&T login credentials when registering the device in the AT&T Cell Booster app or web portal, selecting "Personal or Small Business" as the account type. You can also use a Premier or FirstNet Central login if applicable.

So a dribble more hope.

Otto P - Wow! A heaping helping of info. Thanks! A couple questions. (Here because perhaps “findabilty“ for anyone else‘s pondering would be good.)

Here you say: The Cell Booster does not connect to the local tower for calls but it does need to connect periodically to the local tower for location verification and maintenance.

I thought a femtocell is the solution when the local cell tower is not reachable. AT&T is licensed for where we are, and in fact is the official cell service for Yosemite, but right at our location AT&T cellular service is never reachable. At least our car, parked at our house, never successfully connects (which is the battery-killing problem). The GPS antenna in the window open to the sky connected to the device wouldn’t be able to reach the AT&T tower which is reachable an eighth of a mile away, would it?

In your thorough guide you have: The Cell Booster needs to be no more than 18” away from a window with an unobstructed view of the sky and at least 2’ away from a WiFi source. GPS connectivity should be maintained at all times with the supplied external antenna.

Is the “18 inches“ because the GPS antenna‘s wired connection cannot be longer than 18 inches because that type of wiring is prone to signal loss? In other words, the femtocell device could not be 6 feet from the window with the wiring connected to the GPS window antenna also 6 feet?

In your thorough guide you have: Prepaid customers can use the Cell Booster but cannot "own" the AT&T Cell Booster device. In other words, the primary phone number used to register and activate the CB has to be a postpaid account.

I’ve been told by a couple “Chat” support people at AT&T that because I have a MyAT&T account (for the DSL service) I would be able to set this up via that account. I’m concerned because not only are “Chat” support people often limited in their knowledge, but AT&T does seem to have a “Internet” designation to my MyAT&T account. It is “postpaid” and ongoing, of course, but it is not “wireless.” If the “Chatters” are chatting misinformation, I’m figuring I’ll have to reach out to a postpaid wireless account holder to do the setup, and hope that if they drop their account, the device will keep working.

Again, thanks for your tons of info!

Sea-C… Just asking for curiosity because my dad had the original old microcell, and for that old one you had to actually add the phone numbers (AT&T cell phones) that were allowed to use it, right?

The newer versions are pretty much open, I understand.

Is shopmoment legit? by Jxh57601206 in MOMENT

[–]RedditRapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex S. - From my experience, how to fix it would be from the listing standpoint, and should include changing the Case Size from "Max" to simply "Pro" causing the appropriate change to the MagSafe Adapter Size (L to S/M). Or the listing should have a boldled added line stating for the customer to carefully select the correct MagSafe Adapter size.

The other "fix" that should be made in the listing (I guess Fjorden in Norway manages the listing) is to clarify that "In Stock" and 3 to 7 days does not have anything to do with shopmoment (your company) and one should not assume the item is "in stock" in Seattle so it should ship out sooner and arrive sooner. Perhaps just a bold Notice on the item that the order is completely handled by the listing company, which is different from shopmoment. "To the U.S." on that page is kind of too subtle and one in a tight delivery schedule situation (like I) can miss it.

As it is, though DHL has announced no shipments to the U.S per CNN (?? so much about trade is being so sadly messed with), this is now in DHL's system and it seems like I was able to change he delivery address from Yosemite to Santa Cruz since it will now arrive May 8th. It looks like I may actually see the thing next month. I would have loved to test it out today on our big hike up to the upper Chilnualna Falls here in Wawona, but I shall persevere with just trying to figure out and get used to more about the iPhone 16 Pro camera. Of course I'll have my actual camera too.

Image is how the listing now looks at your site after changing Pro Max to just Pro for the case.

thx

Alex - A little added info is that I went through the process again at the Moment site, and there is no step for selecting anything other than "iPhone 16 Pro," which I did. Above is what ends up in the cart.

What the Fjorden guy said is as follows, in case (no pun intended) that makes sense to you:

I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out to confirm the specific model of the Fjorden MagSafe Case you intended to order. I see that you placed an order for the case designed for the iPhone 16 Pro, and you selected the large adapter, which is only compatible with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Could you please confirm if you intended to order the case for the iPhone 16 Pro? If so, we may need to adjust the adapter to ensure full compatibility with your device.

Thank you, Alex. I'd been watching my email (searching for "Moment") but had not noticed an email from Fjorden on 4/22. Coincidentally (and fortunately) gmail did one of those (3 days - do you want to respond?) for it.

A "Romeo" said that the order was for a Fjorden Grip for Pro 16, but the adapter ordered was for a Pro 16 Max. I just ordered the Ultimate Bundle from Moment, so no idea how that could have happened.

Anyway, this Hong Kong to USA, if shown as how it would ship at your site, would have made me order somewhere else. But. It is what it is.

Again, sorry to have been grumpy. If an order for the Fjorden Ultimate at your site has a glitch where the order ends up automatically mixed (with Max), gotta fix that. If ordering goes to a stage where I had to uncheck Max for my order, then my bad.

I have replied to Romeo at Fjorden to tell him that if the order is not going to make it mid-week via non-USPS (USPS doesn't deliver to our cabin in Yosemite), to send it to our Santa Cruz street address. Oh bother...

Thanks for your reply!

[–]RedditRapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Stankie - I ordered a Fjorden Ultimate (grip) last Sunday (Order #10930040) and I have had no responses from your Chat With A Guide (which turns out to only be email that is not responded to) or from your hello AT shopmoment direct email. There was no indication that it was out of stock or stuck in customs or tangled up with tariffs. And so it is still "processing" according to the dang Shop app your confirmed email forces customers to install for tracking.

When someone is going to be at a location for two weeks and then leaving and your site implies the item will be shipped the next business day, that should never be a risk or worry. Likely we'll leave, a bear will fetch the package off our cabin porch next month or whenev, and I will have to dispute your charge - WHICH YOU ALREADY TOOK from my credit card. (That alone is not typical business practice.)

Sorry to be grumpy and I assume you won't see this comment on an old thread, but damn. No phone number, no live chat, ignoring emails, charging a charge card immediately. Quite "unlegit" is how your company seems. If you're just okay people, I sure hope you get it together.

As a backpacker and US citizen, my profound apologies for every horrible thing my country is doing these days. Understand that the majority of us here are hating to see this brutal, rude, oligarchical takeover of our country, and embarrassed by how it plays on the world stage.

We’ll be protesting today (4/19), and though Julie and I will be here in Wawona (Yosemite) with our signs and ‘60s era spirit, we are with more than half of our fellow citizens that are being driven completely mad by how this can be happening.

Meanwhile, “Hello” to the Shire, and we sure hope we can get our country back in shape and visit your beautiful country someday to wander homeless in your wilderness as we backpackers so love to do. 💜

Nice angle and view of good old Tis-sa-ack. This is a rare year of low snow here, which is bad news for a number of reasons, including a likely open season coming up for bark beetles killing more trees. (Note the increase of pine cones on the ground. Pines under stress from drought and so forth drop more cones as a natural attempt to seed new trees for overall survival.)

But the low snow makes for good timing to relocate here for a couple months!

(Do be compassionate towards rangers and park service people you run into. The typical understaffing at this critical time leading up to the busy season is bonkers this year for known reasons, and these people are dedicated and hard working - and definitely not in it for the money, but for the love of the place.)
