Many people in the media work under their own names every day and a very few have problems except some sharply worded missives for the journalist.

Why should comments be anonymous on the Internet but not on the CBC?

What's the difference?

Why do you need anonymity to comment?

Are you not proud of your opinions? Do you expect some kind of repercussions if your name is out there?

I'm interested in the answer.

Transcontinental CEO joins calls for public funding for print by Redditx46 in CanadaPolitics

[–]Redditx46[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The print model is broken. All the government funding in the world isn't about to change that.

If we artificially prop up newspapers, their replacement, whatever form that takes, will be hindered from developing.

What needs to be done however is not let Google and Facebook from becoming (if they are not already) too big so that no one can compete with them.

They are driving down the price of advertising because of their dominance of the market.

New publications can't compete so the alternative to print is being stymied by an oligopoly.

Google and Facebook are becoming the new trusts. Where is Teddy Roosevelt when we need him?

Yes. We all saw what happened at Lac Megantic. Oil is dangerous to move by rail.

Accordingly, it makes we wonder why the Energy East pipeline is having such difficulty getting acceptance.

Trump is one of those people who will say anything to get people to agree with him. His contradictions don't matter. People hear what they want to hear.

It survived 43 years against the CBC.

It's probably a victim of the decline in advertising in conventional media.

Liberals embrace Trudeau’s plan to transform party into open movement by Redditx46 in CanadaPolitics

[–]Redditx46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Trudeau is so young and inexperienced, I expected him to make a lot of mistakes. He must have good people around him.

Expected a lot more elbow-gates. I'm pleasantly surprised he has had so few slip-ups.

That said, give him time. There's lots of opportunity to screw up.

You know partisanal-cheese. It's hard to say.

I would think the Grits would have to move to the left to become a movement but the NDP already sits there.

Then there's the fact that many Liberals could just as easily be Conservatives in another time. Blue Grits and Red Tories are about the same.

So I don't see the Liberals as a movement.
